Isn't that near the madrid fault that experienced the largest earthquake in the continent 250 years ago?

The map shows a 4.4 around Puducha. I am north of Indy and did not feel anything.

Same here in southwestern Indiana. Just finished up calming down the next door neighbor. She thought it might have been a terrorist attack. Quite a shaker for this part of the country.

Another one has popped up on the USGS site...in addition to the 4.4 near Paducah, KY there is now one listed as a 5.0 near Evansville, IN. Hopefully the New Madrid isn't coming apart.

In Paducah, hummmm. I have been aware of what would happen to Paducah if the New Madrid area kicked a big one loose. If those two dams on Land-Between-the-Lakes broke, its my understanding that Paducah would be under 16 feet of water. My wife would cry because their Quilt Museum would be wiped out (in addition to the obvious devestation of life and property)

I felt the rumble and my computer screen shook. I'm on the third floor and 80% of us felt it; a few didn't notice.

I'd say it happened at about 1:40 pm.

I'm halfway through a book called "The Rift", about just such an earthquake. The New Madrid fault, I think it's called. You can find it on Amazon.com.
