It should be said NONE of the signers are condemning the bombings for MORAL reasons but because they're bad PR and are politically damaging to the Palestinians cause. In other words, if the bombings were well received by world opinion and they obtained the Palestinians what they wanted, we wouldn't see a condemnation printed at all in Jerusalem's Arab language newspaper. The reaon the signers are calling for a halt to the attacks isn't because they're wrong per se but because the Palestinians are being harmed through Israeli retaliation, loss of land and loss of further life. All good realpolitik arguments for stopping the bombings but I doubt those carrying them out are inclined to listen even to reason. Look for the carnage to continue and build unabated.

You are probably right. I suppose I am only trying to find some hint of sanity over there. Perhaps it is a lost cause. I hope Sharon stays in the Pali areas until the bombings stop......but I doubt that will happen. Sadly, very sadly, it appears war is going to happen - which is what the Pali's and all the Islamic Israel haters truly want. If Americans think this year's economic downturn is bad - wait until a full blown ME war breaks out.

But Zohair Dobei, considered a moderate Muslim sheikh in the West Bank city of Nablus, stressed the Islamic prohibition on killing civilians.

This one, Dobei, did morally condemn the killing of civilians.
