1995 was the 'old days' when more information was spread via talk radio rather than the 'net. I remember vividly in the weeks before OKC that something 'big' was going to happen. The really paranoid types thought Reno et.al. was doing something to go after the "militias" (I was never a part of that for the record).

Interestingly enough, they used OKC to spread alot of fear and panic about the growing movement of people who no longer trusted/were afraid of their government. Doesn't anyone else remember that for a year after OKC the word 'patriot' was used in a very negative fashion?
Fortunately folks have rekindled their patriotism after 9/11.

Gee, what a coincidence...

Warnings of Islamists striking US Government buildings around the same time a US government building was bombed.

Is it just me or does this seem like an extremely important story deserving of front page headlines on every major newspaper in the country?

The U.S. Marshal's Service issued an alert on March 15, 1995, to federal courthouses it protects, including the one in Oklahoma City across the street from where McVeigh's truck bomb killed 168 people, the documents show.

"Iranian extremists want it made clear that steps are being taken to strike at the Great Satan," a term used frequently in the Mideast to describe the United States, the marshal's memo said. It said a fatwa - a religious order - had been issued to attack marshals or their buildings.

If this is accurate, it means that U.S. intelligence had far better and detailed info on Islamic threats in the mid-90's than it did in 2001. But in 1995, after WTC #1, the feds embraced the domestic terrorists and stomped on all leads to Middle Easterners. In 2001, within minutes, and not even yet knowing the identity of the hijackers, the attack was almost immediately attributed to Bin Laden.

"What did President Clinton know and when did he know it?"

"My constituents are now asking these questions!"

"But the officials cautioned the FBI and CIA exhaustively investigated whether McVeigh could have been aided by Mideast terrorist and found no credible evidence linking him to any Islamic extremists, including those who prompted the 1995 warnings."

Total B.S. They're not that Dumb. How did they come up with a list of names for the plane crashing idiots just days after the WTC attacks?

This story will continue to Morph 'til the final tiny mea culpa and the "positive news" that it's all taken care of now.
