John Ashcroft proved he is all "candy" when he let a dead man snatch away his Senate seat. Then he raised not one whimper when the Widow Carnahan was illegally placed in his seat. Now it looks like MO may keep the Widow even though she opposed Ashcroft's attorney general confirmation. John Ashcroft may have skeletons of his own (I doubt that he does, for he seems a straight arrow.) or he may be a victim of a common Republican malady, deteriorating spinal column.
In time, people will ask how is he much different from his predecessor. Yet just not being Reno makes him seem adequate to the job. Maybe he could get a spinal column lift if they had such a thing.
