the school's notion of Christianity."
This phrase tells me alot.I thought Catholicism was supposed to be consistant across the board. How can one Catholic school's "notion of Christianity" be different from another's?

OPC and sending their kid to Catholic school? How'd they get that one by their "Council of Elders?" I attended several OPC churches for a few months. They always found a reason to criticize or ridicule Catholicism when they preached.

"It's been a long time since I've heard the whole "Superstar" soundtrack. Does it end with the Resurrection? If there is no Resurrection, it's definitely an incomplete story of the life of Christ." That's valid criticism that even the Catholic church agrees with. But other than that, there's nothing blasphemous about it.

I repented about JCSC when I got saved, threw it all in the garbage. I was ashamed for even thinking that Mary Magdalene would ever say he's just one more man. I wonder if the school approves of the Indigo Girls' album where lesbians play the part of Jesus and MM. With all the sexual tensions in the play, I'm sure that's just the beginning.

Thanks, you're right. I should have said #169.

How can one Catholic school's "notion of Christianity" be different from another's? Answer:
.........the ROMAN Catholic bottom-line PROBLEM....... 'is',.......their acceptance of the Theory of EVOLUTION, ...
....and,..... as always,......ALL of "their" current "problems" are rooted in its teaching/acceptance of........ EVOLUTION!

Now counter the Christian response(asked to be excused from the concert) to the athiest twins reaction in another state where they were trying to force removal of the Lord's prayer via an attorney. I think the massive difference in behavior is very telling.

JCSS is a musical, not a worship service or theological statement. I'd much rather have my kids singing that than some pop song extolling sex, drugs and/or violence.
And what's this about "theological differences"? Could these parents have been so clueless that they don't know the differences in belief between the Catholic Church and the Reformed Churches? Even if they've now figured that out, wouldn't the serious "differences" be over issues like transubstantiation or the sacraments instead of a pop song?
I'm a Presby parent of kids in Catholic school and I knew exactly what I was getting into. We are guests and follow the school rules. My kids have been treated with respect and courtesy. Frankly, the "theological differences" have provided an opportunity to discuss the great common ground we all have as Christians and to contrast our differences with the Catholics. My kids probably know more about Christian theology and the Reformed faith than 90% of their fellow PresbyKids.

Just as well that you threw it away. You clearly didn't understand it. And since there's no connection between JCSS and the Indigo Girls, it's silly to throw up that as a comparison. By the way, have you ever read the Bible? Lots of sexual tension in that book.

Yes there is a connection between the JCSC and the Indigo Girls. There's sex throughout the Bible, but to my knowledge, no groupies followed Yeshua around.

... do you consider this to be a sound Christian school?Based on what I know, yes, I would consider this to be a sound Christian school. The presence or absence of a medley of Jesus-themed songs does not a Christian school make.

I stand corrected. Which sign of the Apocalypse is this? (Not because I stand corrected, but because this version is being done.). To quote the Indigo Girls, thanks y'all.

Speaking of signs of the apocalypse, drjimmy, how about this Jesuit secondary education lesson plan: teaching tolerance: homosexual orientation, Prayer: Who Am I?, arousal, intimacy, attraction, watch scene from Big Daddy, two men kiss, visualize yourself in scene, what is your reaction, discuss alternative reactions, which is more Christlike?...
pdf file, lesson plan

"Jesus Christ Superstar was released as a rock album in 1970 and a year later a musical theater production opened on Broadway. At the time, it was picketed and condemned by some Catholic and Jewish groups for its portrayals of Jesus and Judas. The Rev. Billy Graham called the show "blasphemy.
While some Christian groups still object to the show, the Vatican endorsed the musical in 1999 for the first time, abandoning its criticism that Jesus was demeaned and portrayed as too human. The musical was performed as part of the Vatican's year 2000 Jubilee Celebration in Rome.
Thanks for answering that question.

That concept, the virtue of charity, is one of the missing underpinnings of faith, for a certain brand of protestant, as you have seen. Their sneerings toward and about Rome, bespeak complete lack of charity. This does not apply to all protestants at all, as you no doubt well know. Only some in particular. V's wife.
