I was going to see Minority Report tonight. Those plans have just changed.
In any case, Tommie Boi is going to be in for a shock when he moves to Australia and discovers that their crime rate is far worse than ours, and their tabloids far more ruthless. His secrets will come out if he moves, so he'll get what he deserves.
Sadly, I think his kids are doomed to grow up as psychological cripples no matter where they move, given their parentage.

Hey. Like I said, I knew folks would get riled when I agreed with Cruise's assertions. All the comments on this post are dealing with Tom Cruise the person, not the words he spoke.
Fine with me if you call Cruise an anti-American. He may well be exactly that!
However, I'm focusing on what he said and what he said is true. There is NO DOUBT that our beloved country is in DEEP TROUBLE, but we're not going to get out of trouble by just waving the flag and singing "America the Beautiful."
We are in this cesspool of a mess because we have lost our MORAL COMPASS. This nation was founded on the principal that only GOD, THE CREATOR gives us rights. The government doesn't give us ANYTHING. Instead, for the past 90 years, the Federal Government has been taking, and taking, and taking, and taking. We are now beginning to pay the price.
But the payment is not paid in full yet, dear countrymen. No indeed. Now, we are going to lose more of our precious liberty, all in the name of securing our country. Your bank accounts, your homes, your jobs, everything you have and everything you do will soon be open to federal scrutiny without a search warrant, without due process.
Wake up and smell the stench of fascism and tyranny.

"You only have to look at the state of affairs in America." Like Cruise's personal affairs are so in order. He's a flake.

Does raising his children in Austraila mean that is the place that will make them strong enough to make the right decisons? What in the heck does that mean anyway? Think about it. The statement he made was that he just wanted his kids to be in a place tht will make them strong enough to make the right decisions. Does he KNOW living there they will make right decisions? Do ANY of us know the decisons we make will always be the right ones? Man, they blabber on and on and on about nothing. So, go already Tom and take the rest of the "I don't want to live in America crowd" with you. You won't be missed by this freeper nor a lot of others either. It's about time you Hollywood types realize you are actors and not much else. If you really wanted to make this move, you would have made it without all the publicity attached to it. Why did you speak to the British press? Silly man!

Sadly, you have missed the whole point of the critique. It is the ilk of Tommy baby,Steve Speil, Babs, and the rest of the limosine Liberals, that have CREATED the pr0oblems. But, like all good EVIL DUMS, they crap on everyone elses yard and then move on. If the Aussies were smart they would only allow the children(their not his bio kids anyway) but ban ole Lib airhead Tommy.
They never accept responsibility for anything. Even their own dungheaps.

This would be a start. Perhaps he could convince Babs and Baldwin to move as well.

I'm ashamed to say that my wife and I contributed to the Minority Report profits last weekend. Isn't it amazing that those who benefit the most from our society, are usually the ones slamming it the loudest (i.e., Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Cher).

I agree with you. All we got were his answers. I would like to see what the questions were. If you were to ask me what's wrong with America I might have said some of the same things. It would also be "fair and balanced" if you asked me what's right with America.

That's right - he hates it here and can afford to go live anywhere else he wants. Thanks for the help in making that extra buck, so he can.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a provision in our Constitution that said in effect, if you publicly denounce the United States, you lose your citizenship and are never allowed back here? (Yes, I know, we have a conflict with the First Amendment here, just seeking an exception.)
What really irks me about this man, in addition to his arrogance, lack of patriotism, and ignorance of what he's saying (compared to many other European countries--and likely Australia--the United States is less crime-ridden) is that he makes his fortune here and uses his movie star status to denounce the goose that laid the golden egg for him!

I agree with you 100% ellery. I'm not leaving our country. Where else would I go? The Bill of Rights is still in effect, even if it has not been fully enforced in recent decades.
For a brief, glimmering moment we saw our salvation. After the horrific moments of evil on September the 11th, people turned to the one power that could save this country: God Almighty.
Let the athiests and the agnostics scoff. Let them laugh with derision. Just because a fool laughs does not make him either learned or wise.
People were falling on their FACES when they discovered what happened to us on 9-11. But, the effort was short-lived as our country returned to business-as-usual.
The United States of America will either be saved by turning our country back to God's purpose and direction OR we will lose our God-inspired form of self-government and become just another tyrannical, oppressive footnote in history.
