I understand the point you are making, but I want to interject that while I am also "Hispanic", I'm an American first :)

This rescue was miraculous!

Mexicans. They do the jobs that big business is too chintzy to pay an American a living wage to do (while dumping the pest's subsidy costs off on those same Americans).

Just out of curiosity, do you have dual citizenship?

What do you think of American citizens that have dual citizenship?

Do you believe they feel they're Americans first?

Do you believe we should believe them when they say it?

No. I was born here in the U.S. to an American father and a naturalized American citizen mother from Panama.

What do you think of American citizens that have dual citizenship?

My brother was born in Panama (Canal Zone) and technically could claim dual citizenship, but hasn't and doesn't plan to. I can't speak for others.

Do you believe they feel they're Americans first?

The people I knew who have immigrated here consider themselves Americans first and are very patriotic.

Do you believe we should believe them when they say it?

That's up to you.

My question didn't concern all immigrants to this country, just those that came and maintain dual citizenship, now.

Mainly, those that are encouraged to maintain their citizenship by their countries of origin and to continue to participate in their elections.

Do you believe that Americans that maintain dual citizenship are Americans first?

I'm looking at post #59 and this last post of yours and wonder why the whole subject came up. I'm sorry I took the bait. This thread is supposed to be a joyful one about the successful rescue of all nine of the miners, not a political rant about Hispanic versus non-Hispanic workers. :: going back to sit in my corner :::

Do you feel the same way about the Israelis that sit over in Jerusalem and vote in Florida by mail or is it just Mexicans you have an itch over?

Good morning!

Glorious morning, isn't it? I had to watch until all the miners were out last night. I love seeing prayers answered.

They discussed why divers couldn't help last night with a navy captain that was there for pressurization concerns. At the rate they were pumping the water out of there, it was not possible to send divers in. They would not have been able to make it both ways.

The governor is getting a bad rap here from some. I saw no indication he was hogging the limelight or using the crisis as a photo-op. (He's running for NO political office!).

To the contrary he appeared concentrated on the job at hand, pitched in to help where he could, honored the families by giving them info first, and moved around the workers helping with morale and then shaking hands with them after the crisis ended.

The problem was that the TV pool contingent was following his every move when they could. He made a better photo-op for THEM, and he's not the culprit. Do you think the cameras would concentrate all night on some anonymous mud-smeared grunt operating the machinery? Not in TV land, my friend.

Some cynics are so used to slimy, attention-grubbing politicians, that when a genuine guy appears, they refuse to acknowledge the fact.

Kudos to the governor!

My initial post wasn't directed at you, but you're free to jump in with a comment.

I wonder why your initial comment was an attempt to change the subject?

I wonder why your answer to my question was an attempt to dodge my question.

It's also curious that you still don't answer my question. Isn't it?

Just can't bring yourself to give an honest opinion of Americans with dual citizenship, can you?

Your non-answer is an answer in itself.

You may now return to your joyous celebration in your corner.
