MUNCIE, Ind. -- A convicted robber is suing the convenience store clerk who shot him as he fled after a holdup.

Willie Brown, 44, claimed the clerk acted "maliciously and sadistically" in firing five shots as Brown ran out of Zipps Deli with money from the store's cash register.

This article is the perfect reason why if a clerk shots
a robber, make sure he is dead.

This lawsuit should be classified as frivolous and thrown out because "Brown pleaded guilty to robbery in February and was sentenced last week to four years in prison." Sounds like a remake of the Bernard Koetz trial.

This is why we need tort reform. There should be a law stating if you were injured while commiting a felony, you may not sue for damages. I have heard that idea floated around a bit, but nothing ever came of it. Bush seems to want to pass some type of tort reform. Maybe this case can be used as "the straw that broke the camel's back" reason for tort reform NOW.

Brown, who seeks unspecified damages, said the shooting had "prevented him from transacting his business" . . .

This person's "business" is robbery. I wonder, has he paid taxes on his "earnings"?

I didn't know robbery was a transaction? And all this time...who knew?

What is needed is gun control. The clerk needs to have better gun control. Two hands, deep breath, let half of it out and squeeze the trigger.
Bingo, no plaintiff, no lawsuit.

Never seen a better argument for 2 to the chest, one in the head. A viable option is a double barrel 12 GA.

This kinda thing is why you do the three shot combo and always, always carry a throw away.

Dead men can't tell tails.

"Brown was convicted of robbing an employee at a pizza restaurant in 1991. He also has two prior convictions for burglary."

I almost forgot about that! Willie just ain't none too bright or good at this stuff is he? And is there some "thang" about any "three strikes" rule in TX? I mean, they like executing the bad dudes...Willie seems a good cadnidate for some sort of clinicla trial for bad folk, ya think?
