Ambushes Against U.S. Troops Kill 4

By NADIA ABOU EL-MAGD

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Assailants launched a wave of ambushes against U.S. forces in Iraq, dropping grenades from an overpass, blowing up a vehicle with a roadside bomb and destroying a civilian SUV traveling with U.S. troops, soldiers and Iraqi police said Thursday. Two U.S. soldiers and two Iraqi civilians were killed.

The onslaught was part of a spiraling series of attacks on coalition forces despite assurances that the troops are mopping up resistance. On Tuesday, six British soldiers were killed in a southern town, undercoring the spread of anti-coalition violence.

In latest wave of attacks, a bomb exploded Thursday by a U.S. military vehicle on the road leading to Baghdad's airport, killing one U.S. soldier and injuring another.

The airport road, heavily used by U.S. forces, has been the scene of a series of ambushes using trip wires dangling from overpasses or grenades tossed from bridges. Last month, two U.S. soldiers were killed and two injured when a Humvee detonated an anti-tank mine hidden under debris on the highway.

Until Saddam and sons are caught or killed this crap is going to continue. They are the key. Until these guys see that these three are finished, it will continue.

Ya know what, I think most of them hate us. They are not grateful, and I don't believe this is just some of "Saddam's men, or Arabs from other countries.

I don't think these attackers have much to do with Saddam. This is starting to look a little too much like Chechnya for my liking.

Nope, this is going to be guerrila warfare...and it was obvious that this was the Iraqi strategy from the beginning. "How to defeat a western occupier 101". Lessons from "Palestine", India, Vietnam.

Flood the country with forces, pacify the population, be oppressive where you have to be, have a big carrot where needed. Make winners and losers. And don't arrest anyone. Kill who you need to, quickly and with no remorse or hand-wringing. Reward everyone you don't need to kill.

Even that may not work...but it's the best chance.

Does anyone have a full casualty count for the past 24 hours. I'm a bit confused about what is happening there.

That sounds like a reasonable conclusion, but it fails my logical test.

The majority of the morons who are doing this are self motivated in my opinion. These idiots are likely ex-cons mixed with a few para-military types who just plain get off on this stuff and their religion justifies it according to them.

They will all have to be killed or run out of the country. Saddam has little to do with it I am afraid.

You can't expect gratitude from a rattlesnake that you rescued from the beltmaker.

According to cnn.com on Friday, we have lost 58 since the end of major combat-18 to hostile fire, the rest were non hostile incidents. We lost another since then and then add the 4 today and I guess the total combat deaths would be 23.

One possible scenario. Let's say, 10 Years from now, Hillary proclaims herself Queen Hillary and declares a permanent 'State of Emergency' under which all consitutional protections are lifted.

6 years later, taking advantage of our military's inability to defend the country, the Chinese Red Army comes to our rescue. They occupy Wash., D.C., New York, Chicago, L.A. and begin patrolling the country. They also promise that, soon, our Constitution will be re-instated and their army will be replaced with U.N. troops that are to maintain the peace and ensure that freedom and legality are restored. They also demand that personal firearms be surrendered within 2 weeks or the violators and their families will be punished.

Question: what is likely to happen? Are we going to be super-grateful because Hillary I was finally dethroned, will we not mind the Chinese or U.N. troops presence in our country? Are we going to attack them if they don't leave in a hurry?

When I woke up this morning, I saw on Yahoo that 2 U.S. troops died and 2 Iraqi electricians. But on the FoxNews wire they had 1 killed American and 1 wounded and 2 Iraqis. There was supposed to be another ambush somewhere but I only think there was wounded. Yes, it is getting confusing and disturbing.

There was a story about 2 and their Humvee missing, possibly abducted. I don't know if these are in addition to the others.

To understand the Arab mentality you need to be around a few for a while.

They are half crazy all the time and very emotional.

I understand that one of the attacks today was due to the fact that the electricity was cut off. They wanted it back on.

The reason it is off is due to Iraqi sabotage, but they don't know or refuse to believe it.
