Ad-Hoc Religion Forum Committee Discussion - Thread 3
3/27/02 | angelo

Posted on 03/27/2002 10:38:26 AM PST by malakhi

I've reviewed the critiques and suggestions from Thread 2, have incorporated those I could, and have come up with the following Topic list. One point that was questioned by a number of people were the names of the Denominational Topics categories. I have tried to stay with names that are in common use, and/or are preferred by members of those groups. If you suggested a change here and I did not put it in place, that is probably why.

What I would like to do is to have all interested parties vote a straight up or down on the topics as they stand. If over half of the voters oppose the present list, then we'll reopen it for further changes. If the majority is in favor of the present list, then this is what we'll go with. Keep in mind that additions to the list are always possible down the road.

I will be offline from sunset tonight until Saturday night for the first two days of Passover and then for Shabbat. That will give everyone a chance to weigh in and vote. I'll tally the votes Saturday night, and let Jim Robinson know the results.

Thanks for your participation and the many great suggestions!

Defaming protestants?!? That thread???

For the love of God, mom, that was a response to OP's lies and slanders on a Catholic thread, a thread that was pulled because of his slander and bashing before I returned to posting on Free Republic after Lent.

Your behavior and remarks on this thread are reprehensible. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

In the end, it really is you folks who whine when your positions have been clearly defeated and yet you still refuse to accept the Truth.

You are struggling, mightily, because GOS IS CALLING YOU HOME!!! And you are so conflicted in your soul at the thought of admitting you might have been wrong to leave.

Listen to your heart, Mom!

Jesus Christ is calling you home!

Don't lash out at those simply trying to help you find your way back!

Take it out on Christ. Cry on His shoulder, pound on His chest over the heartache and fear in your soul!

But do not turn back now. The hour is late.

Listen to Him!

We will pray for you.

. . .or is that impossible for a Protestant in dealing with a Catholic?

Sounds like Protestant-baiting to me.

Why wasn't the question raised without the reference to Protestants?

He never wanted an apology..if he did he would have posted that to me alone..or freep mailed me..he wanted to use it to his advantage, he wanted to use it to silence me If he wants an apology all he needs to do is freep mail me.But I do not think that is his agenda

Lady, I think you are doing a good job all on your own to get yourself silenced. This is one of the very worst things you could have said. Your accusations are obscene.

I look forward for your even-handed criticisms of RC offensive posts. It happens all the time, we just handle it ourselves without hitting the abuse button or pinging JR. I have been called many things by RC's here that definitely could be called personal attacks (when the RC's run out of good arguments), but have yet to ever hit "abuse" and I can't think of any reason to. It's better to leave them in to show what is really going on.

GIve us a break. This has all been about Protestants and Catholics. But the real issue is why RnMomof7 can't just say, "I'm sorry, father_elijah, I had no idea about your background. I meant it in jest, and I'm so sorry."

No doubt that depends on one's age and background.

Don't you just love it when someone decides to make a huge fit over something minor?

And ya know what I would have if he had emailed me or posted to me..and not decided to try to get me in trouble here with it..his agenda is showing..as is yours.

Any time he would like an apology all he needs to do is email me..but that is not what he wanted then or now

Why should she have to apologize for something that was not meant the way someone took it? She just stated she meant the Star Wars storm troopers, not Nazis. Nobody called Catholics Nazis. So the accusation against her is without foundation. If she did call them Nazis and it offended Father Elijah then it would be a different scenario. I wouldn't say an apology was absolutely in order for calling people Nazis because I've likened the tactics of the Clinton's and the American's willingness to accept ANYTHING as long as the economy was good to the Nazi regime, so there is legitimate use of the comparison with Nazis in some cases even if it offends some, but to ask her to apologize for likening them to characters in Star Wars is a bit much. I guess what I would say is RnMom, for the sake of peace, if it were me I would tell Father Elijah I was sorry that he misunderstood my statement which was meant to be a reference to the Movie Star Wars instead of a Nazi slur.

How the HELL do you know that unless you have some kind of demonic ability to read his soul. Shame on you, you heartless creature.

Even when through ignorance or negligence we cause someone pain or distress, we should apologize out of basic human decency.

You know full well my purpose was to set the record straight and replace OP's lies with objective truth.

You also know full well that my thread was mild compared to the bigoted, ignorant remarks of you calvinists regarding the RCC.

Your behavior on this thread belies what is in your heart. I had thought you committment as a Christian was genuine, even if your doctrine was obviously wrong.

Mom, you have insulted a Roman Catholic priest, and survivor of the Nazi holocaust, by your words, whether you realized it or not. You so far have refused to even apologize for this grave SIN. There is little evidence here of any Love, for Christ or your fellow Christian in your posts.

I'm very saddened, scandalized, and disheartened by such behavior by one who I presumed was truly a sister in Christ.

It will be a long time till I see you in that light again. I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ, T.

You've got some serious talking to do with Our Lord before you lay down your head tonight.
