Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

SoothingDave: It's there. It's just not "there" there.
For this we all took a vote and gave you:
The Standing Ovation Award
Lets hear it for "Dave" brothers and sisters.
So you are saying you aren't going to read Luke, it's not there, and that this is just your opinion? I'll let it go. IMO it's not something that is going to keep either one of us out of Heaven. Lunch is over. Got to go. Be careful with the math though. Not everyone comes up with four. lol CD
He said thanks?
Thanx at the end of a zinger is a bit hollow. Somehow I doubt he'll change the tone now that I've backed up that when Yeshua mentioned "commands" he meant the 10 commandments. We'll see.
Dave, I though you were fanatical about correct grammar. ;o)
First time I heard this one. I'll give you credit for being creative:)

SDWelcome, we do need more women. I hope you have a thick skin.
Me too:), I like the paper place mats in resturants too.

I've read Luke. The Nativity is there, which is what I meant.
Grace entering through Mary must be reasoned, as I have done, from what is in Scripture.
And this is not "just (my) opinion."
I'll let it go. IMO it's not something that is going to keep either one of us out of Heaven.
Probably not, but it is something that can keep people out of the Church. So they end up denying themselves grace because they want everything to be explicit, and will accept teaching from no one.
Lunch is over. Got to go. Be careful with the math though. Not everyone comes up with four.
Precisely the problem. Everyone wants to be the final arbiter, though everyone knows they are capable of error.

She is considering the source. She's not bitter about me being right all the time. We're discussing in a reasonable fashion, and I think we're getting along swell.
SD
What he is referrig to in Luke 1:28. In the catholic version the verse reads, Hail Mary, full of grace....instead of Hail Mary thou that art highly favored.P>They intreprate this as without sin, ever.
Becky
I was certain that someone on here would nail you for this, and though alot of people comment on it no one really questioned it so for.
Really Dave....look at your wording, "must continue " Once again, the wording here is giving Mary alot of credit. Is this really what you mean or is there an intrepration that will change this comment to something else such as "granting" meaning "channelling"
Becky
Good, I intended it to be. I wanted you to see how it sounds to all non-Catholics. Your explanation to CD is a 100 times more offensive since you were seriously trying to influence her thinking, while I was calling attention to the absurd with absurdity.
It's not our fault that we realize the full implications of the Incarnation. God chose to come to earth as a human. This sets into play the entire Incarnational aspect of humanity participating in its redemption. We are not just acted upon. But when this is pointed out, we get scoffing and gynecological silliness.
Speaking of silliness, that's possibly the most inane statement I have heard from you, I just put it in terms that were literal, so she would notice how your wording attempted to hide the true facts of your claim.
It all goes back to the attempt to make Mary appear as the ever virgin, which is also unbiblical.
If you don't like your silliness being pointed out, then I suggest you stop posting such tempting statements.
If I had posted something half as silly, you and all the RC's would have been down on me like s***k on,....:)
Perhaps if you had lead with the statement, "Here are some of the doctrine you can come up with when you ignore the Bible," I wouldn't have felt the need to post this.

(Becky) I was certain that someone on here would nail you for this, and though alot of people comment on it no one really questioned it so for.
I wondered the same thing, but didn't comment myself. The words which stood out to me were "He, unchanging as He is, must continue to enter the world through Mary."
Does this old fool remember Dave arguing that Jesus could do anything he pleased? That it cannot be questioned what He must do? Now, when it serves his purpose, he lays down the law for what He must do.
*snicker* ;^)
