Here's an example of prophecy having double meaning for a future time. When Herod sent forth and slew all the children in Bethlehem Matthew quoted Jeremiah saying

Matthew 2: 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

Herod's genocide was not the first time Rachel was weeping for her children in Bethlehem.
