This is 53,000 posts on the current thread. The Neverending Story began on 3/24/01, back in the day when FR did not have the thread navigation tools it now possesses. As a result, there was a practical maximum limit of around 200 posts per thread, after which they would get too long to load. So we would start a continuation thread. There were 162 threads under this system before the new navigation tools were implemented. Then we had our first long thread, of over 37,000 posts. When FR set up the religion forum, we stopped using that thread, and started the new, current one in the religion forum. According to John Robinson, the maximum number of posts one thread can hold is 65,535.
