  • Race and academic success at the University of Michigan

No one seems to be bringing this up. Do whites do better academically at the U of M? Do blacks flunk-out more often? Say for the purpose of example that being black with an sat score of 1150 gets you in the U of M. If you’re white, you need a 1300 to get in. If would follow that black students would have a harder time academically because the people they’re competing against are more academically qualified. This assumes the U of M is not lowering its academic standards and blacks and whites go in to the same majors in...

There is a housing program out there called Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers build houses and low income people get to have them for cost. In my neck of the woods a three-bedroom Habitat house would go for around $70k. The people that move in to them pay back the cost of the house over 20 years. My question is: does anyone out there know the default rate on habitat houses? As an aside, I think ex-president jimmy carter started up this program. If you don't know anything about him, just look up the word loser in the dictionary. You'll see his...

I'm wondering what your opinions are on the Browning BAR semi-auto rifles (30-06 caliber). Are they reliable? Do they feed well with factory ammo? Will the 30-06 take the 20-round magazine from the original World-War-2 BAR? Thanks for your opinions.

I'd like to get your opinions on the Springfield Armory M1 Garand rifle. Is it reliable? Does it jam with current, available over-the counter factory ammo (the remington stuff from wall-mart)? Is it accurate? How do you mount a scope on it?Thanks in advance for your comments.

  • National Public Radio: taxpayer funded media bias

Media bias is apparent in commercial, for-profit news programming such as CNN, ABC etc. It is also apparent in taxpayer funded radio programming from National Public Radio. NPR has a lot of radio stations and can be heard even in the most remote parts of the lower 48 states. I propose they loose all taxpayer funding and all non-profit tax advantages. It’s about time they stand on their own in the private sector and get their bloated faces out of the hog trough of tax dollars. Why are we forced to pay for the democratic party’s news outlet? Proposal for continuing action in Afghanistan 11/15/2001 From the recent U.S. military victories, it is very apparent the Taliban have suffered a major defeat in most of Afghanistan. They still retain control of some strongholds. With proper planning and forethought, a protracted guerilla war or future Al-Qaeda terrorist activity can be avoided, or its effects mitigated. The following items form a plan for the U.S. to achieve this goal. 1. The U.S. should plan on remaining in Afghanistan until the Taliban and Al-Qaeda terrorist threat is neutralized. 2. The U.S. should avoid letting the Taliban “melt” into the civilian population ...
