Wednesday evening, Twitter was filled with angry tweets claiming that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump "blew off" a group of pro-lifers just days after he had issues with his stance on abortion. Inciting the angry tweets were articles in Politico and the Daily Beast announcing the supposed slight. There was only one problem with the stories - they were false and neither news source bothered to correct their error. The falsehood seems to have begun with Politico on Wednesday, as their article was originally posted at 11:49 a.m. and tweeted by Politico, with declaration, "Trump Expected to Address Anti-Abortion Leaders."...

2017 Project executive director (and frequent TWS contributor) Jeff Anderson has an important memo outlining the new health care reform proposal from three senior Republican senators that would repeal Obamacare and replace it with legislation that "beats Obamacare in every particular" and would also "address many of the most serious shortcomings of the pre-Obamacare status quo." You can read Anderson's memo in full, below. There's been a lot of talk in magazines and from think tanks about a "conservative reform agenda"—and some laments as to the slowness of GOP elected officials to champion such an agenda. This proposal could mark...

Alert; possible executive order information I wanted to share with everyone here what I heard today from a very well placed source inside the firearms industry- word is the Obama administration had the ATF a couple months ago do a study to see the feasibility of making all semi auto assault rifles NFA items- meaning they would be handled in the same way as an SBR in terms of procuring one; it is assumed there would be an amnesty period for current owners to register the assault rifles they already have then any transfer down the line would be the...

Indulge me for a quick moment....Looking at the jobs report today, we see the household survey showing a massive 583,000 jump in the number of part-time workers, the largest since 1983. As part of the explanation, workers commented they took part-time because of "slack business conditions or the only jobs they could find."So why, in September 2012 would this increase happen?I am not one to believe the numbers were faked. Nor do I necessarily believe, though I do not discount, the survey process being flawed to the point of causing this increase. I actually think it is because of a...

WASHINGTON - The director of the US Jewish foreign policy umbrella called Mohammed ElBaradei, the opposition leader emerging from the Egyptian ferment, a "stooge of Iran." Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice-president of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, accused ElBaradei of covering up Iran's true nuclear weaponization capacities while he directed the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog. Attacks on the Electoral College Gain Momentum    [Tara Ross] You won’t hear about it in the mainstream media, but the Electoral College is on the verge of being eliminated. One important legislative vote could occur Thursday. Two others could occur in the upcoming days and weeks. A California-based group, National Popular Vote, is lobbying hard for a dangerous piece of anti-Electoral College legislation. My NRO article on the mechanics of the legislation is here. Five states have already approved NPV, but now three additional states are dangerously close to joining them: Delaware, Massachusetts, and New York. Another trio...

ON Thursday night, Congress sent to President Obama the reconciliation package to remove some of the embarrassing provisions in his signature legislative achievement, health care reform. But a serious fix for what ails health care in America will entail far more than merely tweaking the new law of the land; we will need to repeal the entire faulty architecture of the government behemoth and replace it with real reform.

Start Mobile has managed to get 18 separate iPhone applications approved by Apple. So you’ll imagine their surprise when one of them was recently rejected. But you may be even more surprised to find out why. Apparently, Apple doesn’t like the way one piece of art in the app depicts President Obama. Is it out of line or tasteless? Well, you can determine for yourself, because you’ve undoubtedly seen the art in question before: It’s Shepard Fairey’s famous “HOPE” image of Obama that was everywhere during his Presidential campaign. So why on Earth would this be rejected? Well, here’s the wording...

By Andy Sullivan 25 minutes ago WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The CIA must provide summaries of its top-secret intelligence briefings to a former vice presidential aide so he can defend himself against perjury charges, a U.S. judge ruled on Friday. ADVERTISEMENT The ruling is a partial victory for Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who is charged with lying to the FBI and a federal grand jury during an investigation into who disclosed the identity of a CIA operative in 2003 after her husband criticized the Bush administration. Libby's attorneys have sought access to the daily security briefings he received from the CIA...

WASHINGTON - A Dubai-owned company will control 23 American ports - not six - as a result of the deal approved by a Bush administration panel in January. The takeover of the British company Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. involves almost every major Atlantic seaport from Portland, Maine, to Miami and along the entire Gulf Coast, according to an attorney fighting the deal. The list includes Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas, which have handled about 40 percent of the war materiel the Army has shipped to combat theaters in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also includes Norfolk, Va., home to...

From the author's notes "These chilling videos - including a sequence of sniper attacks on US and Iraqi soldiers - show the extent to which the insurgency is entrenched in post-invasion Iraq. They have been edited from a series of DVD's I acquired while on assignment in Iraq. Rarely seen by westerners, they reveal the fighters' reliance on homemade weapons and their ease of movement in urban and rural communities. They are produced as propoganda. But stripped of their crude enhancements and dubious editing..."

Cindy Sheehan's protest vigil outside the Bush ranch is "a slap in the face" to the soldiers who have been killed in Iraq, in the opinion of Marny Fasnacht, whose son Michael died in Iraq. Sheehan wants to challenge President Bush to specify the "noble cause" for which her son gave his life. Fasnacht, the mother of one of 25 Minnesotans who have died in the war in Iraq, would like to answer that.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., plans to boycott Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's appearance before Congress today. Dayton described the speech as "a production" staged by the Bush administration and said that Allawi "ought to be over there running his country." Dayton made the remarks in a conference call with reporters Wednesday.
