In 2003 then President George W. Bush signed into federal law the Prison Rape Elimination Act, i.e., PREA, passed by the US Congress with unanimous bi-partisan support. A friend of mine who works for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) tells me they're going to commute sentences for felons with the intent to release up to 10,000 criminals. Felons with up to twelve years left in their sentences will have the balance reduced to six months. If true this is a very good time to get the heck out of California. NOTE: I am posting this in Bloggers and Personal as I cannot find anything to confirm this just yet. I still think this needs to get out.
