I have an idea- why not send some digital cameras over to our guys and gals in Iraq and ask them to send back some photos for us. I will compile a list of people with servers, who will post the photos here at FR- perhaps we could use this thread for a meeting place. My hope is that blogs and friendly media can pick up the photos and spread them around a bit. What we need are: 1)People and organizations who are willing to donate cameras and get them to our troops. 2)Names of people who can receive the...

The resolution grew out of a proposal made Thursday by Rep. John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania — a Democrat, a decorated Marine Corps veteran of the wars in Korea and Vietnam, and one of the House's most respected military hawks — that the United States start pulling out of Iraq.[. . .]At one point, Rep. Harold E. Ford Jr. of Tennessee and other Democrats surged toward the Republican side of the chamber, after Rep. Jean Schmidt, an Ohio Republican, suggested that Murtha — the senior Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee's defense subcommittee and the recipient of two Purple Hearts...

In the early-1970’s I was teaching a karate class and was sparring with a fellow black belt who threw a blind back-kick and Crack! You could hear my nose break like a dry stick in a campfire. Not wanting to make him feel bad, and trying very hard not to act like a sissy, I ran in the bathroom, shoved toilet paper up each nostril, returned, and continued sparring. Mere minutes later. . . Crack! Another blind kick went through my guard, and my nose broke in a different spot. I awoke with a bag of ice on my bloody...

'Forgotten war' continues The recent visit to the United States of Hamid Karzai, Afghanistan's first democratically elected president in a history spanning 5,000 years, did not receive as much attention as it deserved. Overshadowed by the violent drama unfolding in Iraq, Afghanistan's progress has been unappreciated and the war that is still being fought there has been almost forgotten. President Karzai and the Afghan people deserve greater recognition for the transformation that has been achieved with the help of the United States and, to a lesser but still important extent, by America's NATO allies. Upon his return to Kabul Friday,...

This afternoon, I walked into the local convenience store, bar, casino, liquor store, video rental, bait shop and ammo dump, (Hey, I live in Bumfuk, Montana. It's all we've got) and as I walked through the bar, I spotted a grizzled fat guy, with a full gray beard and long gray hair tied back in a ponytail sitting at the end of the bar. He was wearing a 1st Cavalry Division/Vietnam t-shirt. Since there were no Harleys parked outside, I figured it was safe to approach him. (Anyhow, I was packing as I usually do.)I tapped him on the shoulder...

HOLY @#%^@#$&!!!! Joe Lockhart was trying to spin the myth that W let UBL escape from Tora Bora and citing retired AF (I think) General McPeak's statements that are negative about the war. Gibson pointed out that Gen. Franks himself has said that Kerry has his facts wrong about the situation in 2001 at Tora Bora. John Gibson: "Mr. Lockhart, you aren't questioning Gen. Frank's credibility are you?" Lockhart: "What I'm not doing is questioning Gen. McPeake's credibility...Gen. Franks has had two years to get his story straight about Tora Bora and he's out there doing the President a political...
