It is no doubt becoming clear to every NY LEO that no one has their back.
It doesn't take much to imagine many will leave the force. Given that many are honest and faithful to their communities, perhaps many will essentially remain on the job in some capacity.
It would be something like the Civilian Security Force that Obama had in mind, that would be bigger and better than the military. But perhaps with a better outcome.
Many NYPD officers ARE leaving, even if it costs their pension. They are putting their lives on the line for what? To see the perps they caught immediately released without bail? To see perps actually assault them and then be allowed to stroll away, again without bail? There are plenty of cities ready to hired trained officers and they ARE answering some of those ads. The rest of them are no doubt counting the days til their retirement.
