I can be wrong but the Russians may try to make one more big push. They’ll see if they can capture Kharkiv, Kherson and Odessa. Then settle for a ceasefire.
The think that should worry people is that there is no victory option for Ukraine and their NATO sponsor. There are only one of two ways this can go. They lose or give up significant concessions to end the shooting... including a complete cessation of assassinations and sabotage.
OR, they get some kind of success and strike an unusually effective blow, like dropping the Kerch Bridge, hitting the Kremlin with something very big, a powerful drone or NATO missile. Assassinating Putin, or family members etc. Or maybe some lucky drive into Crimea putting Sevastopol at risk... Who knows? Something big though. Such a “victory” will cause Russia to feel that existential threat + humiliation and they might do something nobody expects.
The way I see it, there is either Ukraine submitting, or getting lucky briefly, and then getting plastered and a wider war like never before.
And NATO and DC has no reverse gear, they only escalate.
Trump getting elected is the only hope for anything sane. And that may not come in time.
We will see.

Now that’s funny right there. Putin will tell Ukraine to surrender unconditionally and will continue to take land and villages until that happens. There will be no negotiation.
