I live near Corpus Christi - I don’t actually worry about hurricanes but I am ... attentive. We paid our dues with Harvey a few years back. Looks like Laura is going to be a clean miss for us but you never know - could tend west.

Might be similar to Ike, maybe a touch further east at landfall? Cat 2-3 at some point soon, once disentangled from Cuba. Most likely landfall is TX/LA border.

I stayed during Harvey. Luckily I lived in a no flood zone and we never lost power. I’m always stocked up.
My daughter lives closer to Galveston and I’ve told her she needs to come up here (I’m 3 1/2 hours north now). She said she’s waiting for her husband to get back from Midland and they’ll be leaving tomorrow. I think that’s too late as traffic will be worse than a nightmare. I told her that she should tell him to meet her at my house!
