Madison’s devolution is completely on the insane lesbian mayor. Crime in Madison is quickly spiraling out of control. Even my 20-something year old son said downtown Madison is beginning to resemble Portland.

Shootings are way up all over, and almost exclusively in the heavier minority areas. Look, former mayor Soglin was a 60s hippy, but he wasn’t insane and he understood business needsand safety. The current mayor his a devoted Marxist who never misses an opportunity to engage in national political matters in the most pugnatious possible way, all while her city is beginning to burn to the ground. And she doesn’t seem to care, beyond possibly hiring more social workers rather than cops.

It will be very interesting to see what the pain threshold is for city residents. I predict that many of the small businesses will begin to pull out of Madison leaving only the big national companies who have a higher tolerance for robbery, theft, and organized shoplifting.

You nailed it. But Madistan has a LONG history of tolerating the intolerable. And as much as it pains me to say it, Paul Soglin WAS a good Mayor. 3 times, I believe? he was a regular customer of mine at my Garden Center (outside of Madison!) He loved his home-grown tomatoes, LOL!

Those of us that are sane - MOVE AWAY!

It was great when I was a kid in the 70’s. Yeah, we had the Hippies protesting Vietnam and all, but they pretty much left the rest of us alone.

It wasn’t unusual for Mom to drop us off at The Mall (one of the first!) and for us to catch a bus up to The Capitol Square where we’d run wild for the day until she picked us up again. No fear...for us or her.

Yeah, we had the Sterling Hall Bombing. 1970. We had JUST moved to Sun Prairie (bedroom community) and Dad took me and Sis down there to see the damage. We were 10 and 6 years old at the time. It was a fantastic Object Lesson. Dad was a die-hard Conservative, LOVED President Reagan, and listened to Rush from Day One. ;)

My liberal sister lives in Madison; she hears plenty of gunfire in her East Side neighborhood; right where this story happened. I’m sure she ran over there to hug the owner, while they both count on, ‘Rainbows and Pixie Dust and Brandon’ to keep them safe.

I’ve enjoyed my time in Madison, but it is a liberal place.
