I second that.

We need aid here in America. We need more of that wall built

He is constitutional and fiscally conservative upon convenience.

His failure to be constitutional regarding election security, weaponized govt, mass censorship and J6/gulag is disheartening.

His choice to be fiscally conservative in agreement with Iran, Russia and China but not when it came to the debt ceiling is also annoying.
(it’s hard to forget arm in arm with Kevin getting zero concessions when we could’ve shut down the govt)

When Massie says America first - He means it...

Not sure what you mean.

https://justfacts.votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/132068/thomas-massie

You definitely see a pattern and he’s fairly consistent.

He’s across the board not a big foreign aid and war spender.

He’s fiscally conservative when it comes to government spending and taxes.

What I mean is last May, they could’ve shut down the government over the debt ceiling. Instead Kevin and Massey accepted minimal concessions and signed off on suspending the debt ceiling until 2025.

Suddenly we would’ve closed the border if only.....

These wars are 100% contrived. It is our energy policy vs our tax dollars. But for some reason, the our energy side gets no attention at all and yet without it, no one invades anyone.

America first also means energy independence and not enriching Russian and Iran until they attack.

America first will not lead one to agreeing with the squad, Putin, Iran and Xi very often and yet here we happen to be.
Pres Trump clearly at the least stands behind Israel, undermining support is undermining the leader of our party.

I don’t like the debt. I would’ve taken my pound of flesh when I had the chance and not be whistling by the cemetery a year later. This is divisive nonsense that in the end accomplishes nothing but emboldens our enemies.

Sometimes,

You have folks voting with others, but for very different reasons.

Massie surely is not anti-Israel or antisemitic, and playing that note every-time someone doesn’t agree with more spending for Israel is about as tacky / cliche as those playing the race card every-time they don’t get what they want.

He’s simply not for spending more on wars around the world and us playing policeman, may that be Israel, Ukraine, Yemen...

I personally do not entirely agree with him, because I see it differentiated, i.e. some foreign conflicts are in our interest.

However, he is consistent and definitely “conservative” in a constitutional way.

***MOST self professed conservatives today are NOT conservative.***

They are no different than their Democrat rivals. They merely champion different big government programs and when in power they grow government just like the so-called liberals.

Both Democrats and Republicans are willing to usurp the US Constitution, example Bush W. with the Patriot Act. Republicans (faux conservatives) simply crap all over the US Constitution using a different battle cry, national security or public safety.

I agree.

Energy independence is actually a real national security issue.

It’s also a wealth issue. We are bleeding our wealth to nations in the Middle East.

Finally, it’s also an environmental issue. Sound energy policy where you use pipelines instead of trains, don’t ship oil around the planet, use domestic nuclear power is far cleaner.

But... as we all know, in DC it is all about who you know, and who you blo.. Our policies aren’t based on pragmatism, rather who makes the money.

As to the massive debt and spending, I agree there too. The inflation we have today is a direct result of our over-spending.

Fortunately, we can over-spend by a lot more than what would otherwise be possible. Think of it like this, everyone holding onto the USD is losing, not just us, and since entire other nations use our dollar as their currency, because the USD is a global reserve currency for trade... we can get away with a lot more.

I’m very excited and optimistic that Pres Trump will bring back energy independence and a strong economy-the two greatest weapons in our arsenal towards peace and prosperity.

I get that we’re not the commie/collectivist/cultists. I do expect differing opinions and never anything close to the Dems uniformity but like Pres Trump, I’d appreciate some peace and cohesion.

I will bless them that bless thee and I will curse them that curse thee.
So this is how it ends? Well, it does say that ALL nations will turn against them.
It is appalling to me that conservatives would pull back support for Israel. As a Bible believing Christian, I know that when all nations turn against them, that it puts us out of the will of God in a major way. (Not unprophesied, but a sign that the end is near.)
And I am applied that FReepers would turn their back on Israel. Yes, we have our own problems, but not helping Israel is not an option, if we are realistic.

There is a strand of conservatism that is America first and means it

Massie belongs in that category

He’s not racist/anti-semite etc. He applies the same standard to Albanians

He votes against all the foreign aid.

You and others on here quote the Bible but that is not the US constitution which is your founding document.

The founders may have been from another time but they warned against “entangling alliances” with other countries in speeches and pamphlets.

That’s a fact.

Some of the tags are appalling by the way and predictable calling him antisemitic

I’m also in no way denigrating your beliefs or those of Freepers

Just pointing out his position is historically American!

The founders believed the same and said so at the time...

He’s raising taxes on the working class next year because he voted for a sunset provision. But made the tax cuts for the rich permanent. He’s not tax friendly.

Here, you’re wrong. (C) today *ARE* conservative: They conserve the STATUS QUO.

The Right is just as guilty of being willfully ignorant as the Left being, “Well, it’s *our* guy(s), so it’s different.”

Leftists != Liberal (Liberty)
Conservative(s) != Constitutional(ists)

Use the Left/Stat/Global-ist lingo, lose the debate from the get go.

Back to point. IMO, Massie ranks up w/ there w/ Rand: As close to a Constitutionalist as the (R)N(C) ALLOWS, else they get the “(L)ooney” scarlet letter/cold-shoulder.
*shrug*

One difference is that we partner with Israel. Iron Dome was developed by both the US and Israel. The same is true of laser defenses. Israel acts as a laboratory for US defenses.
