While forecasters regard the race still as "Likely Democratic," Hogan will actually make this a race to watch. Even if he doesn't emerge victorious, Democrats will still be forced to spend money in a race where they normally wouldn't dream of having to do so.

There it is my friends. If he loses at least he's taking one for the team. If he wins it's a problem Trump will be happy have. It's butts in the seats people.

I'm sending him $10, just like I did with Cornell West. I gave $50 to the underwear model who took the Kennedy seat. If it's close I might even send in 50. Hogan doesn't excite anyone here but if he's one of say 54 GOP senators Trump will have plenty of wiggle room.

I'm sending him $10

I'll give Hogan a ten-dollar bill if I see him. He'll appreciate the cash more than a check.

I’m surprised Dave Trone lost in the Dem primary. He spent (IIRC) about $60 million to win it.

His voting record was pretty liberal but I wonder if he was doomed because voters balked at the amount of money being spent by him or whether he regarded as an old white guy and thus a no-go for higher office?

Agreed!

I voted for Hogan, fortunately for me, I’ll be back living in Texas for the General Election.

The people here have known about Alsobrooks for a long time. Most never heard of Trone before.

As an MD resident, I’d say Hogan has about a 10% chance of winning, mostly based on his popularity as governor after several totally inept democrat administrations. Don’t underestimate the amount of black bigotry, white guilt and useful idiots in the peoples democratic state of maryland.

Yeah, Hogan is about the best that can be hoped for from Maryland. Alsobrooks will be a disaster...

Bingo. If there was ever a (supposedly) contested seat that the commies cannot afford to lose, it’s this one. They will take no chances.

Hogan’s popularity as an impotent figurehead Governor (the veto-proof legislature controlled everything, and Hogan agreed with 90% of it anyway) is absolutely irrelevant now, but wishful-thinkers will fall back on that as if it has any meaning.

He’ll do better than the hopeless GOP sacrificial lambs (Chaffee, Cox) did in statewide elections in Maryland in 2022, but probably not significantly better. If he loses by less than 10-15 points he’ll have done quite well indeed, all things considered.
