Thanks for this thread and a special thanks to you this Memorial Day and ever day.
I saw a special on the making of the Passion and one of the people working with Mel had worked with him on We Were Soldiers. He said that during the filming he kept coming over and saying "We've got to make the Passion".
Two beautiful movies about love and sacrifice. There is no greater than to lay down your life for your brother. I normally don't watch war movies. I do like the old ones but the newer ones, Apocolypse, Full Metal Jacket, etc. just did not move me like We Were Soldiers. I cried so much and just saw love in action everywhere from the battlefield to the homefront with what the wives went through. It is one of my alltime favorite movies.
I am so glad Mel brought these 2 movies to us. And grateful to all vets, including the many in my family, many now deceased, going back to WW1.

Thank you, MomwithHope, for vallidating everything I've been posting for over 2 years on this loving "WE WERE SOLDIERS" Thread.
I have a feeling that Lt. Gen. HAL G. MOORE (Ret) & JOE GALLOWWAY may be going this same way in their new follow up book to 'WE WERE SOLDIERS ONCE & YOUNG' upon which RANDALL WALLACE's "WE WERE SOLDIERS" motion picture is based.
That's the jist I got out of our 40th Anniversary Battle of IA DRANG-1965 Reunion last Veterans Day Weekend in Washington, D.C., anyway.
For GOD does indeed seem to work His Miracles in some very LOVING ways..?
