Patrick upset, confused by comments: Danica Patrick is upset at Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone and confused by his comments likening women to "domestic appliances."
Patrick received a telephone call from Ecclestone last week during which he congratulated the Indy Racing League rookie for her performance at the Indianapolis 500. But he also reiterated remarks he had made during an interview at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Among the comments Ecclestone made in the interview and to Patrick was: "Women should be all dressed in white like all other domestic appliances."
Said Patrick: "I just didn't make sense of it. I was surprised."
Ecclestone offered a clarification, blaming his English sense of humor.
"What I was trying to say was that I've been completely wrong about women race-car drivers," Ecclestone said. "I was so impressed with the way she had driven, because I always thought women couldn't drive and should be in the kitchen with the other domestic appliances.
"I was surprised at the job she did and I was happy for her."
Racing president tells Michelin to refund fans: Max Mosley, the president of Formula One's governing body, thinks Michelin should compensate fans who bought tickets for the U.S. Grand Prix fiasco.
If she's smart, Patrick will ignore the temptation of making a big deal out of this in spite of the press egging her on. The worst thing she could do is to cry!
Something tells me Danica doesn't cry over petty things.
He needs to learn the fundamental rule: when you're in a hole -- STOP DIGGING!
That's just plain silly...these days domestic appliances come in a whole variety of colors.
Ecclestone needs to be whacked with a frying pan upside the head.
A sucky leader of a sucky sport.
Wonder how she'd look in black and chrome?
Nothing is hotter on a women than tight white shorts or a tight white skirt. I bet Danica would look good in either.
I also bet she could make a ton of money off this if she started selling photo's of her dressed in white, A good ad man could take his and make her rich.
Ecclestone precipitated this whole thing with IMS because of one thing...................money and how much he wasn't getting.
He's been pulling this crap with Europe for decades now and getting away with it because of the Europeans' passion for the sport. Fans there are willing to part with hunreds of dollars (euros) for a seat most Americans wouldn't consider for half the price.
He's long considered F1 a European series and any country outside the continent must pay heavily for the 'privilege' of 'hosting' a F1 event.
Bottom line: The US, which had the audacity to form a series (CART) that was about to challenge F1's appeal worldwide, and Tony George, who was dumb enough to believe what Ecclestone was promising, are now right back to where Bernie wants them; battling each other for a piece of open wheel racing in the US and diluting both its income and appeal.
How about with the hook, "She's not in the kitchen, but she sure can cook."
He could be the Monteray of the mid-west and mimic the historical races there. He has the space and the tracks for it- and, while Laguna Seca is a fun place, and the historical races is a well organized event- the IMS would bring another level of class to that event.
This doesn't sound like crying to me. The headline is misleading. Overly emotional men and women will equate this with crying.
I'm as wary of the feminist agenda as the next conservative, but I am also stoically fair about such things. Nature has designed the genders to fulfill different roles in the biological scheme of things, but ultimately, crested or cloven, if an individual is up to the task, any task, then more power to them. I ask merely a person's worth, not the accident of their condition.
But when you're an a***hole -- you can't STOP DIGGING!
Ecclestone is French? That explains a lot.
Indeed...there was a time white was the only colour for driver suits but today any colour can be had as long as it matches the main sponsors colours.
White appliances? The guy is definitely dating himself....
