"US Rep. Murtha says he wouldn't join military now"

And he probably wouldn't have joined back when he did if he hadn't been drafted. Murtha's a phony from the word 'Go'.

So, he voted to send others to go, but he is too big a pussy to go. Sounds like a politician and a RAT.

Murtha would join if the Army provided all recruits with Jazzy Power Chairs complete with complementary cup holders. Sounds like this Murtha Effer has spent too much time on the DC cocktail circuit. What use to be a good man has gone into a whole load of Tranquilities.

I wonder how he'll feel when the DNC and their lap dogs, the media, dump him after he has exhausted his usefulness to them.

He's got a very rare combination of attributes for a Democrat: long military service, and political power. He'll be of use to the MSM as long as he wants to be.

Murtha is still exhibiting Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He's a sick man and needs to be institutionalized while he recovers. /s

Same here.

Dimocrats will do anything for a vote, including sell out their country.

I have nothing but contempt for the DNC and their so called leaders.

Many years ago,(1966) when I joined the military, I was given a list and asked, "Do you belong to any subversive groups on the list?"

There were many groups, from the ABRAHAM LINCOLN BRIGADE (I had no idea what this group was), to the KKK.

It appears that we now need to add the Democratic Party to this list.

He obviously doesn't have the smarts to be a Marine anymore. He seems to be experiencing early stages of dementia.

I hope I never live long enough to see U.S. troops in the field and not feel the desire to be there with them. One day, when I'm an old, old man, some Democratic President is going to send troops into some wrongheaded Bosnia-like peacekeeping adventure, and as much as I'll oppose it politically, I'll wish I was 20 again so I could go and be there, hating it with everyone else. I can't imagine feeling any other way

Say, doesn't todays military have a don't ask, don't tell policy? He needn't worry.

"Let me tell you, war is a nasty business. It sears the soul," he said, choking up. "And it made a difference. The shadow of those killings stay with you the rest of your life."

That is what war is about. Murtha seems to think the experience is so searing, that no one should serve in the military if we are at war. The end game is not pretty with that attitude. The upside is that comments like this will make more clear, that Murtha is way past his prime, if he ever had a prime, and not to be taken seriously.

Ive never met a Marine that wasnt proud of everything marines stand for. And just what does Semper Fi refer too? The Communist party. (No Offence to real Marines) I was not able to be a Marine but was fortunate enough to serve in the Army and Air force and even though I served part of my tour while carter was the president I will never regret serving and would serve again if my country needed me.

I'll bet the top brass of the democrat party is holding incriminating pictures of this guy. What other reason would he have to make a 180 degree turn on the military?

Murthas district has reaped the harvests of many a Department of Defense budget, year in and year out.

Time to put the hurts on those electing these goof balls to office.

Even though Murtha is senile he still has to own up to his incredulous statements.

"Let me tell you, war is a nasty business. It sears the soul," he said, choking up. "And it made a difference. The shadow of those killings stay with you the rest of your life."

Asked for comment, a Defense Department spokesman, Lt. Col. John Skinner, said: "We have an all-volunteer military. People are free to choose whether they serve or not."

That pretty well says it all. Except that Murtha is not just a private person. As a Congressman he has certain duties and responsibilities to his country. He has betrayed those responsibilities and should resign from office.

What you have here is a Democrat that is about to retire (or die) and is being used to promote ideas that the rest of the party agrees with but think may hurt the party.

Murtha does not want the U.S. to win in Iraq. He thinks it is a win for the Republicans when it is a win for all of America!
