I've lost all respect for Murtha.

Me, too. When I read comments by him I think of my much older brother who was in the Korean Conflict. He said that he would go to Iraq if he were much younger. One believes in his country, the other does not.

Same here. Defeatists in war nauseate me. If he doesn't support the goal of bringing freedom to Iraq, then he should come out and say so. But to just sit there and whine that it can't be done while there are young men literally dying to achieve it, and still pretend that he's on their side, is just contemptible.

Murtha probably wouldn't have joined back then either if he was the person then that he is now.
If he thinks Iraq is wrong, then Vietnam must've been far worse.

The man is an embarrasment, I lost respect the first time he opened his mouth last month. Each time subsequently, it has deserved to be duct taped shut.....at least in a just world.

I had no idea who Murtha was until he spoke out against the war. I respect him for his military service, but he really needs to STHU. Al Jazeera (sp?) puts statements like his to use and it hurts our military men and women.

Yep, the good ol' days of joining the military when Clinton was Commander in Chief are long gone.....
Apparently the thousands of young men and women who joined the military after 9-11 and are continuing to re-up...are not seeing it John Murtha's way.

A decorated Vietnam combat veteran who retired as a colonel after 37 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Mr. Murtha was a Marine Corps Reservist. He volunteered for active duty in Vietnam. In the absence of evidence to the contrary, we must assume that his service in Vietnam, and his decorations, were legit. He should be honored for that.
However, the press characterization of him as a 37-year career Marine is pure bunk. For most of those 37 years he was a politician, and for many years has served on the Defense subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. You can bet that the Marines wined and dined him at every opportunity - and I'm sure that he returned the favor. He suffered no privations, enduring no long deployments, and certainly did not have to compete with his peers for infrequent promotions. The guy is a phony, and the MSM are soaking it all up.

Jack Murtha: advocate of permanent slavery for Iraqis.
When are we going to start calling the Democrats on their racism?
Note to Murtha. It's I who have a son in Iraq for the third time, not you. Stop your bawling. Stop cutting. Stop running.
