Two weeks ago, we told you that a number of grassroots Republican clubs wanted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to make a presidential run in 2008.
We asked you, "If Rice runs for president in 2008, would you vote for her?"
Here's how you voted.
* About 27 percent of you said, "Yes. I would definitely vote for her."
* About 54 percent of you said, "No. I definitely would not vote for her."
* About 19 percent of you said, "I would consider voting for her."

Bush/Cheney pulled ~9% from the Black community.....I figure Ms. Condi could maybe get 30% right now.....
I registered and logged onto the "Discuss Now" forum and left a note......
I know a lot of conservatives wince - but I'd vote a Rudy/Rice ticket without too much hesitation

I don't think presidential poll results convert when the candidate is put in for veep.

Kind of have to vote for that ticket considering the possible alternatives. No problem voting for Condi but, have to hold my nose and vote for Rudy because of some of his liberal domestic stances.

I'd rather Rudy were more conservative.

Social policy comes from Congress and the Courts. Our needs in the Presidency are:
1)Strong, pro-America foriegn policy and
2) Alito/Roberts/Thomas type judges.

If Condi did 30% she would be unbeatable.

...i'd rather that he grab a more conservative running mate... Guiliani/Santorum? Then Condi could run with Lynn Swann as her VP after he sharpens his teeth as governor of PA for a few years:)

Examine this 30% figure closer.
Much of that number is based on emotional racial nationalism-"She's one of US".Not healthy IMHO.
If Condi were a white women with the same political positions, she would never get 30% on a BET poll.
To: rface
I could vote for a Rudy/Rice ticket.

I figure Ms. Condi could maybe get 30% right now.....30% of black Americans voting for a Republican, many for the first time ever....That would be the end of the Democrat Party.

If Condi Rice runs on a Republican national ticket for either Prez or VP, The Democrat Party, as we know it is dead forever!!!
To: Onelifetogive
Good point! I don't really care where Rice or Rudy personally stand on abortion. Of greater importance is the kind of people they would nominate to the courts.

I'd rather Rudy were more conservative. as long as he doesn't have a litmus test for judges im ok with him.

But I wish it was Thomas Sowell, and not Condoleezza Rice.

I would NEVER vote for Condi because she's a pro-abort. However, I see nothing wrong with a group that feels locked out of the process voting for one who represents the group. Something as simple as "She understands my experiences" is as reasonable as voting for a candidate based on personal charisma which happens throughout the election in EVERY election. If the Republicans are the one to break the barrier, all the better. Just let it be with Lynn Swann or J.C. Watts.

Of course. This is a BET poll. That was the whole point.
There is nothing "healthy" about racial politics. I can only imagine the hateful stuff that will come out of the left if she was ever nominated. You thought Cynthia McKinney, Boxer, Ted Rall, and the racial groups were abd now, just wait. It will be worse than that ad run against Bush in 2000 in TX and the radio ads in St. Louis.
