Yeah, that is a big tradition and I think everyone would love to have seen it, especially the tuba players MOMMY!

The only band I ever see any more is the one at the high school Bubba and I walked past every day and all they ever play is Maria.

Did John Phillip Sousa live for nothing??!!??

yes it would. I hate ANY team to lose even when I support one.

I loved the style & the enthusiasm of Michigan & their fans. It is so sad to have the sad faces & think about the LONG drives home.

okay.. here is the link to the thread..

follow Ted Ginn SR (the wide receiver's dad)..he is trying for some special schools.etc. He is truly a great man who has impacted these young black athletes so positively. I truly beieve if it weren't for him, troy smith & Ted Ginn Jr. may have NOT been where they are today & the score might have been quite different.

Enjoyed this thread so much tonight. Haven't had a lot of time to get on the computer. Great, great pictures and so many pretty sights. The President looks so good. Like we always say "he is comfortable in his own skin". They can mash him to a pulp and he just marches on with his job. God Bless a good man. Thanks for the pictures tonight.

90% of the HS bands are much like mine was back in dark ages.

I was at a play off game friday.. great teams..mediocre/ho hum bands.. well, they are considered "good".. but I am so used to the outstanding band I have followed over the years that as much as you try to get into it, you are presented with poor orchestration, poor technique, boring routines, bad arrangements, lack of fire/fun/enthusiasm..

I am truly spoiled. I always hope FReepers can visit w/me in fall & on Fridays.. the few that have seen "my band".. are in awe, as I was the first time I saw them.

When I was in HS the band show was the time for food, friends, bathroom stops etc.. Now I do that at beginning of 3rd quarter!

I like the new guy. Haven't seen the movie yet, but he has a certain charisma in the previews I've seen.

Some things just 'catch on,' don't they?

He will always be Jon Cary now!

As usual, there were bad calls against both teams, but what happened is that Ohio State fumbled twice, which is rare, and Michigan still couldn't pull out a win.

I'm, unfortunately one of the 'guys' when it comes to football. My husband and I were yelling at the same goof-ups and bad calls, and both jumped up and down for joy at the end.

We're in love. ;)

I was watching 'local' coverage and got to see the magnificent, unparalleled 'Script Ohio.' For me, that is enough. :)

(But I long for the days when watching the halftime show was part of the TV broadcast....)

It helps if you grow up playing it, as there are lots of ins and outs. Of course, the girls only got to play touch football rather than tackle football, WHEN the guys would LET us play.

Congratulations on your team's trophy. When did it occur?

UC DID beat Rutgers. It's going to make the rankings interesting...

IMO, Michigan should stay number two. This was a great game!

Today WAS the National Championship, whether they call it that or not. No one else is close to the quality of Ohio State other than Michigan. I'm sure they'll drop in the BCS rankings, but I don't think they should......JMHO.

Sean Connery is one of my favorites too. That Welsh accent makes me melt!

I was reading something by a Christian couple -- can't remember which one but they are prominent (on TV) and have written books -- and your comment reminded me of something the wife wrote. She was describing some of the happiest moments in their marriage. One of them was a romantic dinner out with her husband, and another was when the popcorn spills all over the floor when they jump up in unison and yell because their team makes the winning point two seconds before the game ends.

LOL! Sounds familiar.

When our youngest was a baby, the Browns were in championship games every year (and came within moments of making the Super Bowl).

During exciting games, we would trade the baby back and forth so we could vent our emotions..........then pass her back so the other one could.

Very fond memories of the whole family on the family room floor watching the Browns play. Now it's just the two of us and it's Ohio State, but the feeling is the same..........and the love even deeper. :)

rutabaga

Wow, had to jump in here. You're one of the very few people I've heard that serves rutabaga for Thanksgiving diner. This is an old family tradition for me, and it just wouldn't be a holiday dinner with out them. I learned from my mother, and do them like mashed potatoes except no milk, just lots of butter and sugar for flavor. Next day do the left overs in a skillet and they're sort of nutty tasting. Just love them. How do you do yours?
