Sounds like someone doesn't have much of a sense of humor...maybe that's why he blew his "joke" so badly...although he did look at his notes just before he supposedly blew his joke, so apparently little Johnny can't read.
Do you really believe there was a joke there?
If so please rewrite it, using his words and perhaps adding or detracting a few words to make it humorous. I have seen many attempts at clarity, but none of those have ended up containing any hunor.
