Having been anointed the media’s favorite go-to guy, with them slavering over his every word for years, he is well-positioned to parlay their imprimatur into something far more useful than a futile presidential run. The media has conditioned the casual observer—the essential swing vote—to accept him as the voice of reason. This is a valuable chit, if he’ll use it properly. This speech is a great start.
