I need you freepers to follow my abstract thinking for one moment. Welfare is a government program and is loved by the left for the humanity and charity involved regardless if the person receiving it is doing anything to better themselves. The Military is also a government program where the individual is also taken care of with housing, food, and a paycheck, but standards are enforced(sometimes very physically and by ones peers). The Left hates it because of the eventual self reliance that the various military branches teach the enlisted or even officer types. They are both Government programs. The one was established for the betterment of the down-trodden and the other for national defense but it seems more and more that the welfare has turned into a socialist tool and the military as a rope to pull themselves out of the mire. I know because without the military I wouldn’t have the opportunity to go to college or gained OTJ training.
