The Vietnamese Americans for McCain-Palin Coalition will hold an endorsement rally for McCain-Palin at Marriott Hotel-Fairview Park, Falls Church, Virginia on October 11, 2008.
Civic, business and political leaders will join hundreds of community members to express their strong support for Senator McCain to be the next President of the United States. As one of the largest ethnic communities in Northern Virginia, Vietnamese Americans will play an important role in determining the outcome of battleground Virginia.
WHERE: Fairview Park Marriott 3111 Fairview Park Drive Falls Church, VA 22042
WHO: Joe McCain, former Vietnam veteran and Sen. McCain's brother Tom Hanton, retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and POW Former Virginia Governor/U.S. Senator George Allen VA State Senator Ken Cuccinelli Mina Nguyen, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Business Affairs at Treasury Department
WHY: Vietnamese Americans came from all walks of life but unite in our common belief that Senator McCain is the most qualified to lead our country. From immigration reform to Iraq war to torture policy, Sen. McCain has shown the courage, temperament and judgment of a great leader who always puts his country first and who is ready to lead on Day One. Senator McCain and the Vietnamese American community maintain a special friendship, dating back to his years of service as a young naval aviator fighting for freedom and democracy in Vietnam. Sen. McCain also helped tens of thousands of South Vietnamese political prisoners who were American allies during the war and their families to resettle in America. Our goal is to show the strong support of Vietnamese Americans for the McCain-Palin ticket and to celebrate the community's active civic participation in our new homeland.

Asian Americans generally don’t vote for democrats. They are certainly not fond of an affirmative action black democratic candidate!
Many Vietnamese Americans fled from Communism once - I pray they (and I) don’t need to flee it again.
They know the true history of how the democrats betrayed them and let the communists win.
I saw that flag once on TV on an episode of the canceled “E-Ring” with Dennis Hopper. It was right behind his desk at the Pentagon, and the cameras discreetly panned in to make it the background.
Okay, help me out. What flag is that?

The Republic of Viet Nam, our alies in Southeast Asia.

Thanks. That was a little before my time. The only Vietnam flag now is the yellow star on the red background.
I have had the pleasure to meet some fine folks who would disagree with you there.
Oh, I don’t doubt. It’s just the only one I see listed as Vietnam’s colors.
"Oh, you know, back in Vietnam, we could get our tongues cut out for talking like this."
She said the problem with the Vietnamese population in the US is this: some understand Communism, and appreciate America like nobody's business. Others still sympathize with the Commies, there and here, and still have connections back in the old country, and might dime you in, if you have relatives that might be at risk there.
Nice.
You are right. John McCain is their hero and rightfully so. But here’s another story closer to the place they once called home. Perhaps the reasoning for this other story is because of the changes that have been taking place in today’s Vietnam OR it’s because they in Vietnam are as worried about Islamic Radicals as we are.
