A federal judge says in 25 years on the bench he's never seen anything as bad as the government's mishandling of the Ted Stevens corruption trial. [snip]

Will the prosecution be sanctioned for their willful misconduct?

Will a new election be held giving Stevens a fair chance at his former seat?

Will Barry ever be required to produce a valid birth certificate?

The prosecution was SUCCESSFUL...this was about getting another DEM seat, and they succeeded. It was NEVER about actual guilt by a republican for ANYTHING.

Inquiring political junkies like me want to know what the political implications of this fiasco are? I take it the prosecutor was a Bush appointee? Is this the fruits of mismanagement by Gonzáles? Are there any parallels here to Fitzgerald' s witch hunt the Valerie Plame show trial? Were the Bush attorney general's office and various federal prosecutors infiltrated like the CIA and the State Department with Bush haters? Were Democrats attempting to do what was achieved by the indictment of Weinberger?

How can we believe that such a high profile case could be so flagrantly mishandled because of negligence rather than malice?

In short, what the hell was going on here?

The demo’s got what THEY wanted: one more liberal repubbie attacked just before the election.

Forget fairness or justice - for white republicans.

All I want to know is: Where are all the freepers who were bad mouthing Ted Stevens last fall; laughing with glee at the pork barreler being destroyed politically? Meek as church mice now the truth be told. You fools deserve the dem begich in washington for the nx 40 years.

One thing for sure, Alaskan's don't like the repubs no more than the dems and if mark rides the center, he'll get elected forever. Nx time don't eat your own, support them.

If his behavior was above reproach, he would not have been targeted as a vulnerable entity.

Sometimes, you help bring on a bad situation by your own behavior.

This is not a vindication of Stevens’ conduct, but an indictment of an equally corrupt proscutor, IMHO.

What I don’t understand is why Holder dropped the case. Sure, he wanted to make it look as though the Justice Dept was “fair” and “non-biased.” But even so, as Stevens has been defeated, none of the trial news would have gotten to the public anyway!

If this isn’t an invitation for live boys and dead girls to start showing up in the beds of Dem/Lib prosecutors and legislators, I don’t know what is.

This stops further inquiries at a time when Holder might control the retaliatory investigations into the conduct.

It all dies a peaceful death, having done what it waws meant to do.

The judge needs to sanction each of the government attorneys and their superiors and to submit the sanctions to their bar associations with a cover letter asking that they be disbarred.

To answer all your questions, it is communists in action. The RAT machine at work to get a Democratic in office, nothing more. Nothing will happen to the prosecution and everything will just fade away, except for Ted Stevens who got screwed.

They all are corrupt, you just have to chose which will be closer to a conservative that might be closer to our values. Don't be confused to think all of Washington is not on the take, they all are one way or another. It is the nature of the beast.

You just have got to love this.

Anyone want to know why the Democrats went nuts when Bush fired 8 attorneys? They did it because it would pressure Bush not to fire any more of them.

And Voila`, you have attorneys who should have been fired for misconduct stealing the election for the RATS. And it was on Bush’s watch.

F’ing Brilliant!!!

All it takes for a conspiracy is for two people to decide to do something. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that the prosecutor is a Rat.

No grey fox, not directed at you; you were just the last post. I guess I was shocked last fall to see all the people on FR burn him at the stake; so many people here on FR went after him; where are they now? I mean, everybody here in Alaska has watched this show all along, knew how trumped up everything was. If the Repubs across America would have supported him, none of this would have occurred. Stevens hasn't done anything anyone else hasn't done.

I thought he would still win the election. When absentee votes were counted, the election went to Begich by 4000 votes, Uncle Teddy had been up 8,000 votes to near the end. The case gave the election to mark begich; real heartbreaker to Alaskans who knew the truth.

Now Mark Begich is painting the picture that he is a conservative democrat, no gun control magic man, slow down the spending ect, yet vote with dems most of the time. Begich will get elected forever that way. So in the end, we have lost a repub vote in Washington and all I remember is all the freepers going after an old man who has hung with the repubs since statehood. Alot of fools on FR.

If I was a conspiracy theorist...

Shirley you aren't implying that the Democrats had a plan to 'get to 60' in the Senate and that anything they did to achieve their goal was acceptable? If you think this was bad, wait until 2010, when the Dems, armed with tons of taxpayer funded ACORNs, and a 'fair' census do to keep their majority in the House and Senate.
