He’ll be back, just like Marion Barry.

And Alcee Hastings (D-FL) - impeached as a federal judge and removed from office for corruption and perjury.
Now a member of the House of Representatives representing Florida's 23rd congressional district.

Alcee is dumb as a sack of stolen hammers, but not anywhere near as dumb as the people that elected him.

He’ll be back, just like Marion Barry.

From CNN.com, 2005...

In 1990, the FBI busted Washington, D.C., Mayor Marion Barry for crack cocaine. Today, the 68-year-old self-proclaimed "mayor for life" is back in politics, serving on the D.C. City Council. ...

In January 1990 Barry's political reign came to an abrupt halt when he was caught on video in an FBI sting operation smoking crack cocaine with a woman at the Vista Hotel. The incident -- played over and over on cable television -- produced what is perhaps the most memorable quote of Barry's long career: "The bitch set me up."

Should Marion Barry go to jail for failing -- yet again -- to file his tax returns?

His last stint in the clink didn't seem to have much of an impact on the former mayor. As recently as 2005, he tested positive for marijuana and cocaine use. And in 2002, U.S. Park Police said they found crack cocaine and pot in Barry's Jaguar.

"He’ll be back, just like Marion Barry."

Even though minimum sentencing guidelines have been set aside (see US. v. Booker), it's going to be very tough for the judge to sentence him to less than 50 years, considering the advisory guidelines will suggest something north of a 100 years.

At 62, I don't see a political come-back in Mr. Jefferson's future, unless he makes like Lazarus, which is doubtfull - at best.
