For 2011 Mississippi has claimed the title of fattest state for the sixth consecutive year, while Colorado continues its streak as the leanest. Florida rose the most places in the rankings over last year, while Oregon dropped the most, according to a new analysis by CalorieLab, Inc.
Great food here in the Magnolia State!!
Now we get to hear jokes about fried food down south causing Mississippi to top the list.

We may be the first nation in the history of the world to kill its poor people by making them too fat.
Factor black women over the age of 30 out of the equation and Mississippi will move to average.
Can you blame them? They have great BBQ in MS!
That and too damn hot to exercise.
Still, I'm betting Pittsburghers would give you a run for your money. Visit any Wal-Mart around here and you'll see people who would require a fork lift to move them.
Liberals are twice as fat as conservatives.
I saw a woman in one of those electric scooters today and she could not fit through a standard sized door. The scooter golf cart sized tires on the back.
How exactly do they determine this?
LOL Agreed! I had hummus once - tasted like dog food.
Eat Less
Do More
Get Educated.
And you will not be fat.
Uh...
I would like the list of fattest states displayed next to a list of:’
oldest states (in other words, where are the highest number of seniors living)
smoking states
African-American states
Hispanic states -
I am not against the elderly, the smoker, the black or hispanic at all - I just think you get heavier if you are older (until I don’t know, 60 or 70?), lighter if you smoke, and that obesity rates are higher in certain ethnicities.
It would be very interesting to see if any of these things correlate.
For example, the state with the highest percentage of 20-somethings probably has a far lower obesity rate.
Is DC even a state? Hehehe
I would have thought it would be NY at the top of the chubby list.
I remember once I was b*tching to a (AA) friend at work about finding out that at 20 lbs. over my “target” weight I was considered obese. 20 lbs.! She looked me up and down, and said, “In my race you would be considered skinny”. Made me feel better. By the way - she was rail thin herself.
Good eatins’ down in Mississippi...I can see why.
Looks like the correlation would be between fattest states and educational attainment by state.
