South China Morning Post ^ | 4/6/2019 | Amanda Lee

China will refuse to give up the “special and differential treatment” it enjoys as a developing nation at the World Trade Organisation, in a rebuke to a US proposal that would pare back the privileges China and other nations enjoy on trade...

China is simply too much to handle. Don't expect much on Trade Agreement - they've got us over a barrel.

I am beginning to wonder whether Trump may gradually be coming to the conclusion, that many of us have already...

China is not interested in coexisting. China is competing for control of the world.

The entire thing.

With all the 3rd Worlders we've been importing, shouldn't the US be reclassified as a “developing nation?”

They have our advanced technologies and trillions of our $s. Now we are spending trillions more defending against them. And they are claiming to be just a developing country, in the same league as Zimbabwe.

The WTO ranks only second to the UN as a corrupt organization that needs to be disbanded.

“We are still developing as a super-power nation. We are still in “angry teenager/dangerous young man” stage in our development. Therefore, we advise that we keep our Develoing Nation status in WTO.”

I think we should possibly consider (much) higher tariffs than that.

Much higher.

Maybe that’s just me. :)

They need to be put out the most favored nation status. Everything they do in empowering their industry is meant to attack us. Libertarians believe that business should not be a zero sum game and everyone wins, but this is not the case with China. Their economy derives from their strategy, whereas we have no strategy but economics, which is ridiculous. The man of war precedes thaf of peace. You do not make a nation free by issueing debt and corporations.

“special and differential treatment”

Should be 'deferential'.

Sometimes I hate being so darned literate.

It is funny but not actually funny. In China you won’t find homeless’ tents all around or needles and poo in the streets. Their doctors haven’t seen any louse and typhus is something from a hystory book for them.

Yep, the elites are coming around to that conclusion. For instance, MIT broke ties with Huawei - there was a significant amount of research sponsorship available. Export controls are being reviewed and publicized. There is very increased awareness - and acknowledgement - of chinese stealing.

In Peking, they have road crews with water trucks with high pressure hoses driving down streets washing the crap away. It was a lot cleaner than I expected. The anarchy of bicycle riders on the streets was my most dangerous experience.

Actually, the US has China over a barrel. China makes the vast majority of its trade money by being the low cost provider. Cheap labor, subsidized companies and currency manipulation are all part of its strategy. But when you put the right amount of tariff on their goods, then there are several Asian countries vying to become the new low cost provider. Trump has the current tariffs such that they are still the low cost or near low cost provider for much of their industry. But Trump keeps holding that increased level of tariffs over their head.

A country that can put rovers on the Moon and send up a Space station is not a developing nation. They are developed.

We need to leave the WTO, repeal Most Favored nation, and ban Red Chinese goods from this country.

Then we should arm Taiwan with ICBMs and missile shields.

_____________

LOL ..... no you don't.

You enjoy correcting people's errors.

But it is perfectly fine. Your education has served you well.

Not to paraphrase Chris Matthews, but you may "get that same thrill up your leg, all over you, every time" you can correct someone.

****

Please don't be upset. I am only pulling your leg.

:-)

-------------------

Education? Nah, he has no education because my instructors taught me something called etiquette. All this guy does is sows dissension between members. Without the proper etiquette used when correcting someone then all the education is for naught because people aren't going to focus on the error in question but the corrective action as it was delivered. Not a good way to correct people's English grammar skills. When people sow dissension, then those people will look for a way to get back at him. The best thing for him to do is disappear and never show his alias around FR again.

Sowing dissension between people is called “trolling” and I am sure Jim wants trolls on here because he seems to allow it.
