Hanoi Jane was bad enough, but I didn’t realize Donald Sutherland was a Commie too.
Me either. Changes my view of him and his work.
Back then, pretending to be a Commie was how you got the loose women. Do it long enough and you become one, like Winston Smith.
“...but I didn’t realize Donald Sutherland was a Commie too.”
He was a lefty from way back. He supported the Black Panthers in the 1960s before he really became known in 1970 with the movie M.A.S.H.
He and Jane Fonda had an affair in the early 1970s.
“I didn’t realize Donald Sutherland was a Commie too.”
Donald Sutherland’s favorite roles were always maniacal US military officers. That’s just my observation.
“During the filming of the Academy Award-winning detective thriller Klute, Sutherland had an intimate relationship with co-star Jane Fonda. Sutherland and Fonda went on to co-produce and star together in the anti–Vietnam War documentary F.T.A. (1972), consisting of a series of sketches performed outside army bases in the Pacific Rim and interviews with American troops who were then on active service. A follow up to their teaming up in Klute, Sutherland and Fonda performed together in Steelyard Blues (1973), a “freewheeling, Age-of-Aquarius, romp-and-roll caper” from the writer David S. Ward.”
“His second marriage, which lasted from 1966 to 1970, was to Shirley Douglas, daughter of Canadian social democratic politician and the ‘father’ of Canada’s universal healthcare system, Tommy Douglas.”

May have been bad but John F’n Kerry was infinitely worse
Donald Surherland has been high since about 1965...acid mostly not that that’s an excuse
Donald Sutherland is Canadian, but still a commie.
>>>Hanoi Jane was bad enough, but I didn’t realize Donald Sutherland was a Commie too.<<<
I didn’t realize it either, until several years ago, my mother casually mentioned one evening that Donald Sutherland was as big an America-hater as Hanoi Jane was.
