Dozens of people who apparently were smuggled into the United States were found working and living in “horrible” conditions at an illegal marijuana plant in California's Central Valley, authorities said Thursday.
Deputies served a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at a site on unincorporated land near the city of Merced and discovered the operation. Images posted online by the Merced County Sheriff's Office showed trays, bags and boxes stuffed with what looked to be marijuana in a run-down interior space.

“Horrible conditions”? How horrible? 3 meals a day, pay, maybe some benefits? Compare their conditions there to what they left in their own country. I’m pretty sure our “horrible” means a huge step up compared to what some folks come out of in other countries

Just had an “incident” at my house yesterday. I’m in Central Virginia. Not out in the boonies, but definitely not near any big population centers either. I was walking out to my garage and saw a car drop off (kick out) a woman and 4 children. All were wearing long pants and sweat jackets. It’s going to be close to 100 degrees here for the next few days. They all looked confused and didn’t know which direction to go. I live on a side road that is a dead end. She had a pull behind suitcase and trash bags with what looked like clothes. The children were also carrying backpacks and had trash bags of clothes. They seemed to be ages 6 to maybe 13. I approached and she couldn’t speak English. I ended up calling the sheriff’s office. At least they could get them kids in some place with air conditioning. Biden’s border policies have caused this. People are emboldened to hop the border, but may not be completely aware of how dangerous it is. I was happy to see that the mother still had the daughter with her..
