"Electrocution," originally was a combination for, "electrical execution," and in its original context and meaning you are 100% correct. Due to gross misuse however, it has generally become accepted to mean electrical injury as well, and most dictionaries now include that as a secondary definition.
FWIW, I agree with you, and the fact that its improper usage has become accepted is a sign the ignorant are winning :(
