It’s about keeping the container ship in place? I don’t know, how about an anchor? Tug boats? Push boats? Those are too complex? Lame excuses to figure out how to clear a blocked channel? Now it’s really sounding fishy.

Keep the channel closed up through the election, so even if Biden loses, it becomes Trump’s problem.

It is not necessary to rebuild the bridge first. A demolition and removal operation should be able to take care of the channel blockage in days. When a ship was wedged in the Suez Canal in 2021, the salvage crews got the wreckage cleared in just six days.

Comes down to how important it is to restore the flow of commerce.
