Back when I was in college, final exams were the first or second week of May.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Classes wrapped up usually by the first week of May and finals The next week and half or there abouts. If these were students, they wouldn’t have time to be protesting this much as they would be finishing their last assignments/projects and getting ready for finals.
