You can't evaluate the average American's belief because they know they will get kicked off of their favorite social media platforms, and could potentially lose their jobs if they express incorrect opinions on the wrong topics.

Even here on FR there are certain opinions shared by lots of conservatives that are verboten.

The difference is you can say anything about the government as you please and wont be imprisoned. Most of the world population including Russia cannot say that.

Private employers/media are not the government and can’t put you in prison. If you don’t like their rules, you can start your own private company and say anything on your own platform.

There are plenty of platforms used in the USA where people can post ANYTHING with the exception of classified documents and child abuse. You can start a new one this hour if you please...
