Alabama governor signs bill enshrining Biden on November ballot
The Hill ^ | 5/2/2024 | Lauren Irwin

The legislature unanimously passed, and the Governor signed a bill allowing a "one-time" fix of the deadline for parties to certify their nominees, allowing the Democrats to do so following their otherwise late national convention.

Alabama did the same thing four years ago to accommodate both national parties. Ohio has still to provide an accommodation to the Democrats this year. Note how different things are for the major parties, than they are for independents and minor parties. Four years ago, the Green Party candidate and Kanye West were kept off the ballots in almost all battleground states due to fastidiousness in checking signatures and enforcing deadlines. Probably as a result (and not even counting illegal voting), Biden won AZ, GA and WI, and the election.

Whats the point of laws if the political classes can just change them to fit an agenda, either for R’s or D’s.

Redmen4ever, SloJo ‘won’ NOTHING. That election was fraudulent from the get-go.
This ‘accommodation’ stinks to high Heaven. It serves ONLY to cement for the overlords the notion that they hold sway with We, The People.</spit>

"Republicans never get tired of helping democrats beat them."

That's why they are called "Quislingcans."

Subtle and quiet tactics. Effective, wasn’t it?

But they would have quickly exploited the Perot Split of 92 and 96 if those votes for a third party were expected to go to Trump.

Yep. Nothing new or nefarious going on here. Trump will easily carry Alabama.

“The Alabama Legislature already moved back the deadline in 2020 as a one-time fix to accommodate for both the Democratic and Republican conventions that year.”

I agree that it’s BS but keeping him off would only help Biden who has zero chance of winning Alabama but could have used him not being on the ballot to his advantage. A number of states want to use “national popular vote”. I somehow wish they passed the laws to screw Trump and not getting any votes from Alabama gives Biden 0 votes and thus turns the national popular to vote and Trump who, as a result, gets Maryland and Oregon electoral votes. A man can dream can’t he.

“Whats the point of laws if the political classes can just change them to fit an agenda”

But that’s what “Laws” are. Just word on paper.

If The People don’t defend the Laws, then the Laws can’t defend The People.

It’s a paraphrase of a recent X post I read. Sorry, I don’t recall the original poster.
(At least I acknowledge another writer, unlike our Harvard Betters.)

A. She literally was a Democrat that only changed to have a chance at winning anything.

B. She was awful early on during COVID

I wonder if a blue state and blue state governor would have extended the same to Trump if the situation was reversed.
