HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi signed Bill 7, declaring the City and County of Honolulu a “Purple Heart City” to honor recipients of the Purple Heart.

The bill was passed on April 17 and was signed on Friday.

According to the City and County of Honolulu, those who were injured, wounded, or died in the line of duty receive the Purple Heart for their bravery and sacrifice.

“I’m just really grateful to all of you, not only for your service and what you represent but for having the opportunity to become a Purple Heart City and all that it means,” expressed Mayor Rick Blangiardi.

Honolulu City Council Vice Chair Esther Kiaʻāina, Honolulu City Councilmember Augie Tulba and other members of the local veteran community joined the Mayor at the Mission Memorial Auditorium to honor two special guests for the sacrifices they made when fighting in the Korean War.

“I just hope it becomes a statement of the respect that we have for the men and women in uniform and for those who’ve been injured in the line of duty and certainly those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice,” he added.

Not directly related to this article but according to this UNRI article on the planned invasion of Japan, the 370,000 Purple Hearts awarded since WW2 are all from the inventory ordered for the invasion of Japan. They couldn't find the original paperwork for the order and didn't tell how many are still left.

In searching to find out how various regions of the Hawaii islands voted in 2020 (some are far more conservative than others) I came across a very curious statistic :

In many areas, in person voting went 75-25 for Trump, while the mail in votes were the opposite at 75-25 for Bidet*.

Never found any explanation for how the choices could be so upside down.

You mean like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia? (I think I left out one or more.)

Not up to anything. Say what you will about this lib idiot state, but I’ve been to Honolulu three times for Pearl Harbor Day. Whatever day of the week it falls on, in the evening there’s a huge extremely patriotic parade in Waikiki including marchers and bands from all branches of the military, and floats and balloons celebrating each branch. The people turn out en masse for the event

We got our butts kicked there just like the Aussies at Gallipoli. They celebrate ANZUS. Go figure.

Hawaiian nationalists favor removing the military presence along with independence. They’ve got a long way to go. Deep blue. We should call for restoring the monarchy-a step in the right direction. Make Tulsi the Queen. She’d be a hot one.

Have a Hawaii ‘nationalist” on a local gun forum that openly roots for the ChiComs to run the place. Goes by the name of “kuleana” on the 2Ahawaii.com forum
