KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – Ukrainian troops are locked in intense battles with the advancing Russian army in two border areas, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, while the death toll from a Russian apartment building collapse blamed on Ukrainian shelling rose to 15.
Zelenskyy said “fierce battles” are taking place near the border in eastern and northeastern Ukraine as outgunned and outnumbered Ukrainian soldiers try to hold back a significant Russian ground offensive.
“Defensive battles are ongoing, fierce battles, on a large part of our border area,” Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address Sunday.

I think we need more war going on, we have a major war going in Ukraine and Gaza, maybe a war over Taiwan would create some new headlines, meanwhile we have hundreds of thousands of illegals streaming across our border and the person who is supposed to be in charge has late-stage dementia.
Other than that, everything is going great.
Will Ukraine have mandatory military service when this is over? It really should be like Israel. A potentially rich country that’s corrupt. Is it worth risking one’s life to serve when they can emigrate?

They are still in the grey zone, having advanced 4km and not likely to break out. All URK’s major defense are many kilometers away from the grey zone.
The whole thing is just a ploy to keep UKR troops fixed and force UKR to send reinforcements which, so far, have not been needed.
This effort is made up of Russians allocated 50,000 troops, 400 tanks, 930 armored vehicles, and 900 artillery pieces. They are commanded by General Alexander Lapin who has suffered 2 major defeats in this same area.
But only 32,000 are in the Kharkiv area. hardly enough to take a city.
The alleged Russian goal is to seize the city of Kharkiv; however, this is impossible with only 32,000 troops. Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine, covering an area of 140 square kilometers and a population of 1.4 million people.
It is 13 times larger than Bakhmut by size and 20 times by urban population, and Russian sources said that for a takeover of Kharkiv, they would need at least 300,000 troops.
So calm down and watch the show.
