Putin could now defeat Ukraine within months
The Telegraph ^ | 15 May 2024 | HAMISH DE BRETTON-GORDON

The Prime Minister, in his “state of the nation” speech this week, accurately stated that the world is a very dangerous place, and we must ensure that our defence capabilities are up to the task. He is right on the threat but has yet to grasp that one way to meet it is by investing heavily in our physical and psychological military conventional deterrence.

The signs coming out of Moscow are far from encouraging, with Putin sacking his combat generals to replace them with “bean counters”.

Presumably to ensure the economy is on a total war footing and capable of taking on Nato and outlasting it on the battlefields and in the parliaments of Europe. If Trump comes to power, he may only need to hold tight until January 2025; not long.

At the same moment, Russia appears to be making significant gains towards the second city Kharkiv, possibly catching the defenders on the hop and no doubt trying to unbalance the Ukraine army before the US heavy weaponry and the F16s arrive in numbers. The Ukraine Security Service believes that Russian forces are also massing in the northeast for another strike into Ukraine. In the worst case scenario, Russia could make significant gains this summer and terminally unsettle Ukraine’s defence. The fact that Volodymyr Zelensky has just cancelled visits to Spain and Portugal underwrites the seriousness of the current situation for those Western leaders not paying attention.

The US and Nato’s indecision and procrastination have helped strengthen Putin and given him the confidence to go on the offensive. Putin appears undeterred by Western leadership, believing many of our politicians are not up to the fight.

The conman that is Zelensky.

If you’ve got an hour or two to spare, read “country by country” the mind-boggling
astonishingly long list of armaments, ammo, tanks, aircraft, etc, sent to Ukraine.

It was always thus.

Only this way it cost us many billions of dollars and tens of thousands of Ukes dead.

Talk about a poorly-played hand.

I remember when Putin was supposed to take Kiev in 3 weeks. That was 2 years ago.

“Putin could now defeat Ukraine within months”

He could. He might. Maybe. Perhaps. Possibly. Conceivably. Weather permitting. Batteries required. Some assembly required. Terms revocable with no notice. etc.

The propaganda here is really over the top.

The reason the US and NATO have net been sending munitions to Ukraine is because we have already sent all that we have to give. The remaining responsible military leaders are saying enough is enough we cannot send more to Ukraine without jeopardizing our own national security, not to mention we cannot afford to send anymore economically.

The Ukraine has blown through roughly 40% of America's pre war stockpiles of Javelin and TOW anti tank missiles, Stinger surface to air missiles, Howitzer Shells and we have put a big dent in our Patriot missile reserves, HIMARS reserves and we are now sending conventional warhead and cluster munition armed ATACMS ballistic missiles.

This is enough high tech weapon reserves for the US to fight WWIII in the European Theater. The Ukraine has wasted these weapons by using them indiscriminately

This is insanity, especially since Ukraine has lost the war and is doomed to collapse regardless of how much support we send

Then he has to rebuild it.

China will rebuild it, in exchange for loans that the E.U. will end up paying, or else Beijing will own Ukraine.

There you go again. Your little bitty brain just keeps dreaming up this nonsense. Why don't you take a minute and post the source for that little bit of wisdom?

You know what I remember? I remember that we were told that the US/NATO, with well over a trillion in military spending a year, along with the Ukies, would drive the Ruskies to the Black Sea and take back Crimea; and, oh, how about the 2000 mother-of-all sanctions would drive Putin from office and collapse their little country. Does your brain remember that, too?

I also remember that the might of the US/EUROPE and NATO would roll over and defeat the much smaller country of Russia (140 million population) with a totally inept military that used WWII tanks and could not keep rockets and bullets supplied to their rag-tag army of malcontents and prisoners.

Do you remember??

So apparently neither side was right.

That’s the funny thing about war.

That’s what Biden and Co. want so they can blame it on Trump and MAGA.

What do they care? They make their money either way.

Neither Russia or Ukraine will be allowed to end this war.

Our only hope to end this war is a President Trump 47/2024.

Trump is not going to end the war. Putin has all the momentum now.

Trump will give more weapons to Ukraine and he will allow them to become more aggressive.
