Various sources online say that Congressman Cao of Louisiana is close friends with State Assemblyman Tran. Ideally, Cao could headline a fundraiser for him and encourage Vietnamese-Americans across the country to lend support. Of course, Cao probably has his hands full with his own uphill re-election campaign.

A perfect storm of events this election cycle could see both Cao and Van Tran end up in the next Congress. Now that would be interesting. Vietnamese Republicans could become the asian equivalent of Cuban Republicans within the Hispanic community.
