Comedienne Joan Rivers ditched a gag about Michelle Obama from her routine - because she feared she'd be accused of racism. The comedy legend wrote a joke about US President Barack Obama's wife, poking fun at her dress sense and comparing her to former First Lady Jackie Onassis by dubbing her "Blackie O". But she backed out of using the line on her chat show for US network E! - to avoid criticism that the joke was racially-motivated. Rivers tells Britain's Independent Magazine, "I was going to compare her to Jackie O, but call her Blackie O."

Blackie O. That’s pretty funny. It reminds me of when Muhammad Ali was admiring himself and said, “I’m so pretty, I’m Dark Gable.” That was OK, ‘cuz he was black, but it was also funny. It’s too bad PC kills all humor.

What difference does it make if she tells the joke during a routine, or if she tells that she was planning to tell the joke? Either way, she’s told the joke. She’s going to be accused of racism just the same.

Good point. She gets credit for not wanting to be a racist, while still getting credit for the “cleverness” of the joke.
Sooo, instead of telling the bad joke, she just told everyone ABOUT the bad joke. Yeah, real intelligent...

But then, Chris Rock, can say all the racist white jokes he can .... he’s the most racist black comic around ... ninety percent of his jokes are about bashing whites .....

I caught a brief interview with Joan Rivers where they asked her to bring up the first thing that comes to mind when they mentioned different people and they said Sarah Palin and Joan said ‘stupid’ and it was the tone of voice, the face and the contempt that stood out to me. I hate this beyotch and will not support her in any way.
Uh, that really isn’t a great joke. Yeah, sounds a little racist. She made the right choice.
Take it how you want it, but Joan was asked to give the first thing that came to mind when they mentioned Palin and she said in a very hateful, nasty way in all seriousness ‘stupid’.
BO needs to send her to the back of the bus with us Republicans.
