For the first time since America invaded Iraq in 2003, an entire month has passed without any US troops being killed.
The sobering milestone came after 14 US soldiers died in Iraq in July, making it the most deadly month for Americans in three years.
It also came during a return of sectarian fighting in August that left 155 civilians dead amid a campaign of suicide bombings and cold- blooded assassinations.
American military chiefs attribute the drop in deaths to the Iraqi government finally pushing back against the Iran-backed militias.

Bush’s fault.
Well, I’m gonna say it. IT’S ALL BUSH’S FAULT.
Does THE MAIL not think it just as historic to report that in the same month the US suffered the most fatalities in Afghanistan since the war began? Curiouser and curiouser the power of the press to inform and deceive at the same time.
Re: Historic month passes without any U.S. fatalities in Iraq - the first since 2003 invasion!!
When will these Fuc#in liberals get it straight. We DID NOT INVADE IRAQ. We LIBERATED IRAQ!! OIF VET
Bremer was a creature of the State Department and aspired to become secretary of state or national security advisor after his mission in Iraq, senior administration officials told me. His worldview regarding Iraq was in stark contrast to his political bosses. He told his wife, Francie, when he was first offered the job in Baghdad, that he was going to be "running the occupation of Iraq."
But neither Rumsfeld, Cheney nor Bush had ever talked about occupying Iraq. They talked about liberating Iraq. Bremer kept these views to himself until it was too late.
We can argue over semantics, but we invaded Iraq and at least at first ran it like an occupation. The end result may be liberation, but it was still an invasion.
Can we get the hell out of that turd world nation yet?
Keep holding it in, guys.
